Displacement maps and bump maps contain exactly the same information. The only difference is how they are used. I am a professional 3d artist, by the way.
You're forgetting that data density also increases, which means a platter would have to rotate much slower to pass the same amount of information under a read head.
What bugs me even more is that he is now found guilty, we're happy about it, and that's the last we'll hear about it. Provisions to keep this from repeating? Oversight of financial markets? Bah, what for, we got the bad guy...
No matter how many new laws you put in place, you can't completely protect stupid people from evil people. Often, the worst victims of changes to the system are those who play it fairly.

I used to have the same problem, where the server list refresh would stop at around 200-400. I read somewhere that you have to delete a file and let steam rebuild it on the next run. As I recall, it was one of those.blob files. I did that, and my problem was solved.
If they're your organs, why shouldn't you be able to sell them?
I am sure someone in great need of a kidney would be happy to be able to legally buy one from a healthy person that has two already.
No, anecdote implies that the information is second-hand, can not be verified, and is therefore unreliable. Actual scientific data is first-hand and verifiable.
Uncheck "Don't save account credentials on this computer" in steam settings. Then you only have to log in once, and the computer will allow you to go into offline mode any time after that.

I wonder if this method still holds up after noise removal, or even something as simple as an image size reduction.
Anyone more knowledgeable on the subject care to speak up?

Free, clean transportation?
Solar panels in space, is the only 'clean' energy that would have no effect besides maybe blocking the view of Sol from far away systems.
Except that you're piping energy, which eventually turns to heat, directly to earth.
There is no energy transfer that can happen which does not affect change in any auxiliary connected systems, no matter how minuscule the change.

Well, the two uses certainly aren't mutually exclusive.
