Then why don't you peer with the other providers in Uruguay, Brazil, and possibly other South-American countries? It might gain you more redundancy too.
(I doubt this is the case...their margins on the XBox can't be much lower than on the PS2, which has virtually no margin. Game titles are where they make their money, and I imagine the margins are about the same for XBox and PS2.)
This sounds only fair: the manufacturers are selling them at a loss too. The consoles themselves are an investment, the profit comes with the games. Somebody who bought an XBox isn't going to buy PS-2 games and vice versa. I'm pretty sure any retailer who wants to stay in business understands that.
Blizzard is throwing its weight around, trying to squash Bnetd with its vast bulk. Like a swarm of Protoss carriers... Lets hope Bnetd's lawyers bothered to develop "Lockdown."
Nah, most people on Battle.net are lame, and play on money maps in Fastest mode, making most spells all but useless.
Yeah, maybe they could use software that some universities use to determine who's been cheating by copying code off of someone else, which has also been featured in/. not too long ago;-)
It could be that they tried to mimic the Battle.net server software a bit too well, or just because it's a bug that's bound to appear in the code, because it's too hard to anticipate it.
Actually, in Germany, probably Berlin, there's a bunch of people employed to re-assemble shredded files, of the Gestapo I believe. They contain information about what happened to missing people.
I have an Aldi PC which came with a restore disk, which I used once I had trashed the FAT32 partition accidentally (FIPS @#%$!), but it didn't touch the Linux partition I had made on the disk. It just formatted the primary partition (hda1) and block-copied everything from the CD in just a few minutes.
But I agree, it is still bad for people who don't understand about partitions and backups.
I don't get it. When Phantom Menace came out, everyone was extatic, and now suddenly everyone is whining that it sucked?! Please explain.
(I'm not a Star Wars fan, though I've seen the movie, on tape, I believe.)

I've had it happen twice when leaving a store, the security gate would beep. Both times it was because the cashier forgot to demagnetize the merchandise (no, it wasn't magnetic media I'd bought;-) )
I stayed calm and told the security guard there must've been something gone wrong, and had him check the coupon and demagnetize the items. No need to get angry or run away, IMHO.
And am I the only person fed up of getting apostrophes converted to little boxes when put through various emailers?
That's probably because the text wasn't ASCII in the first place, but made with MS Word, which uses non-standard character codes for apostrophes and things.
Incidently I have to use a cracked version of Starcraft on the laptop because it only has one pcmcia slot so it can only use one of the network or cdrom at anyone time.
Nope, no need to use a cracked version. Just use a virtual CD-ROM program, and it should work just fine. (Of course, disk space became sparse, so I quit using that.)
You would suggest he take up EverCrack as his career?
From what I can see, the unfair costs seem to be Microsoft-related ;-)

Isn't just grep enough in that case? There are plenty of | grep combos, but cat | grep seems a little redundant to me.
Say, viruses and exploits didn't exist, and all code on the internet was full of buffer overflows and other vulnerabilities.
Then, one day, someone writes and releases a virus / buffer overflow exploit. It could mean the end of the net as we know it!
How about not buying from them? How can they make money if you don't spend it?

Not if you announce it before you start the recording.

Also, I think Blizzard plans those expansion sets during main game development. It's just a ploy to increase revenues by 50%!
Actually, in Germany, probably Berlin, there's a bunch of people employed to re-assemble shredded files, of the Gestapo I believe. They contain information about what happened to missing people.
Well, Don't Do That Then.

Yeah, I don't recall any "it sucks" headlines on Slashdot or a negative review of the movie.

So, how is that supposed to be fair?
Then why do corporations have the rights of persons, at least in America?
That's probably because the text wasn't ASCII in the first place, but made with MS Word, which uses non-standard character codes for apostrophes and things.
It's probably because 50 + 1 == 50 (cap) and 50 - 1 == 49
No, that's where Homer calls Canada ``America Junior'' :-)
I still don't see why they let kids under 12 years old work with the internet, or computers at all.
;-) )
At that age, they need to become proficient in things like:
* spelling
* reading
* arithmetic
* topography
* other miscellaneous skills, like playing, socializing, reasoning
I'm sure most of you remember what a challenge these things were for many of your classmates?
(Naturally, exposing such young kids to Windows should carry the death penalty
