How stupidly selfish do you have to be to not want more women to be vaccinated against HPV?
People grossly overestimate the link between HPV and Cervical Cancer. Yes there are a few strains that can be prevented, but the long term effects of this vaccine have not yet been proven. Pharma companies are making everything from being fat to having a very common virus a disease now. This proves that not only can they make everything a disease, but they can sell a cure.

    some FACTS about HPV

    1. HPV is a sexually transmitted disease. 2. HPV is the most common sexually transmitted disease. 3. The overwhelming majority of women with HPV will not develop cervical cancer. Cervical cancer is an extremely rare complication of a common infection. 4. The spontaneous resolution of HPV is common. 5. Most women who test positive for high-risk HPV will not be diagnosed with cervical cancer or a precancerous condition upon further evaluation. 6. The purpose of a Pap smear is to detect HPV-related lesions, including cervical cancer, and their precursors.

Literally, the risk is too low to have MANDATED innoculations.

"So, do you care about race in videogames? If so, how so?"

No, I don't care about race in VGs. Just like I don't care about race in real life.

If you're a prick, you're a prick. If you're cool, you're cool. If you're a loser, you're a loser. If you're tops, you're tops. If you're trash, you're trash. Race has nothing to do with it. It's common sense.

And I'm not sure if anyone should worry about race in VGs...unless it's blatant stereotyping, like in GTA:San Andreas. Hell, after playing the game, my friend made the joke that it should be called "Microsoft Ni**a Simulator 2006." I mean, seriously. You have to eat fried chicken and watermelon to regain health. That's just F'D up. Period.

The whole point is: race (to me) doesn't make a difference and *shouldn't* make a difference.

I thought this was supposed to be an enlightened society...? *shrugs*

  19. Re:They got promoted? on Who Killed the Webmaster? · · Score: 3, Insightful

I don't think the job is gone, but perhaps the title is. "Webmaster" has been rolled into other jobs, because management of a public-facing web site is increasingly just one facade of a far more important job, management of a company's entire systems, which falls generally to the CIO, and then gets delegated from there down to a particular person or group.
You nailed it right on the head, there. The last time I had the job title "webmaster," I was working for Bluedomino.com (the former hosting arm or CoffeeCup Software). Now I work for a think tank in WaDC and, even though my duties encompass that of a webmaster, I have so much more to do (audio and video production, print design, et al). So much so that my title is now "Multimedia Producer." I'm still a webmaster...I'm just not only that.

The short explanation is that, after the dot.com bubble, companies have gone with the "many hats/renaissance man" approach of the early 90s as opposed to the super-specialized approach of the bubble.
