Hm.. you flame BSD and you flame Linux. Does that mean you hate them both and prefer Win/Mac/Sun? Or does that double-sided hatred actually mean you love them both. When in doubt, mod flamebait!

Ok, but I think the DMCA refers to copyright holders which includes corporations and individuals.

Here's the idea. What if anyone (I'm sure you have a copyright on something) makes a random claim that someone else is infringing on the copyright. The RIAA did this, right?

I mean, actually do it. Find a figurehead of somewhere and submit a request for the account information on whoever and claim they infringed on your copyright. Try to get the press to notice it too. Would this work?

A little offtopic from the parent, but..

Last year when I was in high school all out of state trips associated with school events were banned due to "recent world events." Going to the debate tournament in the Dayton area of Ohio was OK but going ~25-40 miles north into Michigan was not OK. We were about 5 mins. or less away from the MI/OH border. They later removed the ban months after all of the tournaments we wanted to go to that were out of state had finished.

I've been using pine since August of '97. I get crap from people all of the time, but I've had no other reason to move. A decent amount of spam is filtered at the server level using SpamCop as a RBL. I rarely get attachments, if I do, I save it then ftp it over. Same client and same email anywhere I go. I can PGP sign/encrypt any email within a couple of keystrokes, and I don't have to worry about it opening images from spam that act as trackers, though pine comes with basic html rendering. I don't need anything else.

I've always wondered how many usernames and passwords I could capture as an experiment. Seriously. Windows 2k/XP requires you to press ctrl+alt+del to bypass this sort of thing to get access to the login screen. But what if you just left the login screen up without the ctrl+alt+del message? Do you think anyone would notice? I could say, with a high probability, that I would probably even be fooled. Anyone else ever think about this?

See, they give you much needed practice of patching services at a proper pace! Patching it every 2 weeks or so is great practice for every administrator. Every good admin should have at least 1 box with sendmail on it. See, a few years ago I put on qmail. Now my patch skills are severely lacking. When this advisory for sendmail came out today, I said "that's enough, I'm falling behind. I'm going back to sendmail." I think I'll be much more happier now.
