There should be a class of judgments for cases involving police, where if the judge determines that the officers involved are attempting intimidation like this, that they are severely reprimanded, perhaps even losing their jobs automatically. That would put a stop to these frivolous cases of intimidation.
Seems obvious to me that a hybrid drive is optimal. Flash supports faster writes, so use it as a buffer before the slow spinning platters, so even in the event of catastrophic crash, whatever writes are in the buffer are already to permanent storage. This will make fynsc() calls much faster, since we don't have to wait for platter rotations, just for the flash write to succeed. The bytes are then migrated to the platter in the background as the disc spins, so less seeking.
Finally, this flash buffer only needs a small fraction of the size of the full disc, thus keeping costs down.
The solution is not to forget, but to ensure that people can't be discriminated against in this way. Employers should be permitted to look at past employment history and recommendations only. Personal information not explicitly granted by the individual should be off limits.
The creator and maintainer of Wordpress would know better than I, and since he has consulted with lawyers and posted a detailed rationale, that would be the article to read for the evidence.
This paper formalizes the notion that the present cannot change the past, and thus, the future cannot change the past. Thus, no, we would not have any evidence of time travel in the past or present because that is ruled out a priori.
I think the proper way to view this is that it's a formalization of the idea that you can't change the past. Any time travel that would attempt to change the past is instrinsically forbidden.
Or your attempt to change something fails, or cause the event in question in the first place, and you die in the past. Thus no knowledge of your failure to change the past travels to the future, and thus history repeats itself precisely as it happened. I believe this is closer to the post-selection this story is about.
privacy of non-governmental, non-corporate groups for no valid public policy reason. It has published private rites of Masons, Mormons and other groups that cultivate confidential relations among their members.
I'm not sure they there was a "privacy right" being infringed here. Clearly a member of this circle betrayed their secrets willingly.
The only weapon they have is public contempt for WikiLeaks’ ruthless violation of their freedom of association
Wikileaks cannot violate freedom of association because they are not a government nor have any sort of other power over these people.
The GPL has very specific language as to what constitutes linking, and how this creates a derivative work. In order for you to buy the argument, you should at least be familiar with the GPL linking argument first.
Google's open approach here would have been ideal, if only they had marketed the Nexus One better. I would totally have bought a Nexus Two, but now they're out of the game. Too bad. I hope HTC tries a direct to consumer model at some point too.
We're all going to suffer awhile longer before this crapware problem gets resolved.
As others have pointed out, the lack of marketing was the cause. Given the sales the Nexus One did get, I'd say the sales were pretty good considering they essentially only marketed to the tech elite.
I was actually planning to get a Nexus Two to replace my original iPhone within a year, but since they're abandoning this approach, I guess I'll have to go with an HTC of some sort. The carrier lock-in is a real pain in the ass to get the phone you want though. I think Google could have had something good if they just stuck with it, and marketed it properly. I definitely think Google's more open approach is the way to go, and I'm sorry to see it go.
However, your argument that the first egg-laying animal came before the first egg is at least interesting.
Indeed, this is where many other interpretations of "egg" end up contradicting themselves, assuming our speculation on early biology is correct.
It doesn't apply to chickens per se, or even to birds, but it's a pretty good argument, and is probably even correct, though enough weird stuff has evolved in the last few billion years of biology that it's not necessarily so.
True, it's predicated on what we think we know of early biology. We currently think cellular chemistry happened by accident in enclosed formations partly protected from the harsher environment, but it's certainly possible that some chemical process formed protective shells of some sort first, thus allowing the chemistry to occur. In such a scenario, my argument would imply the egg came first.
It's amazing how many people vehemently deny this argument though. I've been down-voted many times on reddit.
That's your first wrong assumption. The ancient greeks had ideas about evolution
Nothing about speciation in that link, which is necessary to resolve the argument.
Which came first - and it's obvious that eggs were around before any warm-blooded animals existed, and that includes chickens. There is no circular dependency, just people who lack the ability to step out of the box, or make bad initial assumptions.
Chicken/egg is widely recognized as a causality dilemma due to the circular dependency. Furthermore, there are at least 4 valid interpretations of "egg" in the chicken/egg question, and I have provided a simple formal model explaining why my interpretation of egg makes the most sense (most other interpretations result in contradiction in the recursive relation).
Additionally, even if we take your view, then the egg STILL came first - because any egg that gives rise to a chicken is by definition a "chicken egg", even if it was laid by something that was one generation prior to crossing some arbitrary boundary into "chickenhood" - since the chicken is only fully developed at some point after the egg is created, same as a human is not really a human when it's just a clump of cells (or your arm isn't a separate human being if we cut it off).
My definition of "egg" is a conclusion, not an assumption.
Tell you what, you think I'm wrong, great. Point out the mistaken assumption or incorrect inference in my induction, otherwise my conclusion stands. You can argue informally till you're blue in the face, but reduce it to a formal argument if you want to convince me.
This makes me sad that Google probably will not make another phone like the Nexus One. This proprietary, protectionist crap is getting really old. I was totally going to buy the next gen Nexus One. Oh well. I hope someone else steps up to the plate.
Not all eggs have a hard shell In fact, most don't - so this is a stupid question.
Additionally, other animals laid eggs well before chickens ever appeared. Dinosaurs, for example.
This is an invalid interpretation of the question. The Ancient Greeks had no notion of evolution, so the the question "which came first, the chicken or the fish egg" was meaningless to them. The chicken/egg question is a metaphor for resolving a circular dependency. If you analyze it inductively and ground it in biology, the only sensible answer is that the chicken came first.
Maybe everyone who can tell the difference between a-protein-now-found-in-chickens and a chicken has long ago come to the conclusion that what came first was some animal different enough from a chicken that we wouldn't call it that, which laid an egg that contained an animal similar enough to a chicken that we would call it a chicken. And only the logic deficient and the religious crazies are left arguing the options.
Recursive relation fail! A proper inductive analysis says the chicken came first.
They're not taking anything away from your original iPhone.
Arguably, they are. If a widespread vulnerability becomes known and you cannot defend against it by updating your device to close this hole, then they have taken something from you. Particularly since they forbid you from jailbreaking your device and letting the community fix it.
How old is the original iPhone? How long do you expect companies to support old tech?
At this point, I expect companies to open source the firmware for discontinued phones so the community can take over. Unfortunately, it seems like the Google Nexus One is the only phone even close to following this model.

You can. In a religion class. Creationism is not science however, so it cannot be taught in a science class. Why is this so difficult to grasp?

Except the real numbers.

I'd be inclined to blame the governments and the media that make a service like Wikileaks necessary.

How does anything you just said apply to recording MAC addresses?

1. Go to any dictionary.
2. Look up "metaphor".

I argued with another person that was convinced as you are, and I broke down the model even further. Point out the mistake.

No more than the guidelines for testing patents eligibility, which you haven't addressed and no one seems to object to.
