    As a sidenote - it's good to see Firebird as a lightweight browser that does NOT require the installation of Mozilla.

    It's a bit pointless to install Galeon because it requires Mozilla.

    IMHO, why bother? I don't want 2 browsers on my machine...if you can use Gecko as a stand-alone component without the Mozilla baggage, you should do it.

    Has anyone logged the bug that we're unable to control the CPU use of flash/Java applets? IE can handle 50 pages of flash applets with no problem since the applets themselves are "reniced".

    15 or so Yahoo News pages would bring my Mozilla down to a halt. :(

    Yes, the power is in the applications, if they are the applications Steve or Bill wants you to run.

    Say, if 3 years from now, movie ripping applicatons would only be available on one OS. Which one do you think it would be?

    That's why I run Linux.

    That might be true for india but would not quite apply to China.

    First, China is already considered a "power".

    And, they *ALREADY* have rockets that can deliver nuclear weapons with pinpoint accuracy to any spot in the world.

    It pretty much leaves the advancement of science as the biggest reason of their space program.

    Also, If you leave too many Flash applets open Mozilla will grind to an annoying halt.
    While the same load in IE continues to run.
    The difference? IE controls how much CPU to give to the Flash applets. Mozilla doesn't.

    Is "applet nicing" possible? It should be one of the features urgently needed for Mozilla to be usable today.

    Set a precedent so that the lawmakers will not buy into an unrelated but sure-to-happen future legislation - the consideration of open FORMATS, which is the real deal.

    Somewhere here on Slashdot there was a story about it a few days ago. Could someone dig it up? It has to be announced loud and clear that open FORMATS, not open sources, must be considered - at least it'll silence these "procompetition" groups.

    Even if the earth were flat, you'll see the "curvature of the horizon". It has nothing to do with the earth being flat - just a limitation of the human visual system.

    Maybe I misplaced a word. Try to replace "dominance" by "monopoly". You'll get my idea.

    Do I hate the US? Hell no.
    Do I hate its space policies? Fuck yes!

    Look at what happened to Columbia, what happened a few years back to a probe that was the result of not using metric.

    Look at what the pentagon is trying to do when Europe is planning a GPS alternative.

    There are enough reasons for at least me to not like what US is doing with its space program, and calls it the "pinnacle of human technology". Bah.

    Problem is, Open any magazine and you'll learn that Microsoft is on a rampage advertising campaign to preach that its products are secure.

    When in fact it is far from the truth.

    This false sense of security is exactly what makes their product very vulnerable.

    MS needs to admit the security flaws publicly, loudly, and stop preaching bullshit.

    Cannot agree more.

    If one of your product's main selling point is to make as many "convenient" features as possible to a non-technically alert population, you cannot escape from security problems.

    If I were in charge I'd stop the practice of feature-bloating the products and dumbing down the user interface.
