This is almost as bad as asking "What programming language to use for a project" It all depends on the needs and experience of those involved. Sometimes it means rolling your own, other times it is better to get one that has been fully tested in the field for some time. Either way it is a silly question to ask.
The chip was made to compete with "Big Iron" servers - the only problem is that it is marketed to the windows consumer market, and that is who looks at it when making purchasing decisions. AMD has really started to eat up this space, and if Intel does not start to turn this boat around fast they could really get hurt when 64bit CPUs are commonplace.

Any discussion of home theater PCs needs to start with the open source solution Myth TV
It works with open standards - unlike the Media PC from Microsoft that keeps you from doing just about anything with your recorded shows.
The article suggests that they will introduce new G4 based models. I find this highly unlikely. They will need to push their new Intel Line. I suspect they will reveal new Intel Based laptops, and as always a surprise that rocks the world from Mr Jobs himself
I know why people get so upset when cookies are stored, but most of the time it is used for useful things. For example it can be a great way to come back to slashdot and already be logged in. I hate typing in my password all the time.
Blah.
If anyone is wondering what the student wrote that got the school so pissed off. Here it is:
"[He is a] cockmaster of a teacher. I don't even gratify him by calling him a professor. He is one who teaches, as in should teach infants and children."
The rest of his blog was about video games, drinking and other typical stuff. His blog is now currently offline.
Ironically, Marquette University encourages students to post public comments about their professors, and these comments can be very negative.
This makes total sense. Many people are using their current box as a Windows Media extender. Personally I hate the Windows Media box since it locks you in, but this will feed right into the wants and desires of those users.
And on the format war side of things. I think Microsoft is going to brute force the format they want, and this is just one of the ways they are going to try to do it.
It is amazing to me that SCO can continue this long without totally running out of lawyer money. I really wonder if some third parties are funding them under the table.
Tell me this -> How are they making a profit today?
This is a very interesting discovery. Could this totally remove the argument about stem cell research? Since it sounds like they are able to produce Stem Cells without using other human tissue to do it.
I cannot even count the number of times that my motorola phone would bomb out. Also, how reliable is this going to be? If it uses cell service it sure as hell wont be as good as XM
It is amazing the number of companies I have done consultation for where the person that is responsible for the tapes has no idea how much information is on them. I have heard of people leaving them in their car unlocked over the weekend, or while they shop. Not to mention the fact that extreme heat, and cold can destroy the things...anyone could come along and steal them.
Obviously they are still a powerhouse in processors, but still one must wonder how they could have lost the number 1 position to AMD when it comes to 64 bit processors. A company only makes moves like this when they feel they need to make a change.
Look at one of the items (Free Domain)
"It took Microsoft, of all companies, to make getting your own dot-com name free. Its new Office Live online software suite for small businesses, now in testing, will offer a domain name, Web site and e-mail accounts free. Yes, you'll see ads on the screen (unless you pay for the adless version) - but plenty of people won't mind viewing them in exchange for a free, professional-looking Web presence."
What a bunch of crap. Come on! This is a top 10 gadget??!?
Strange that it was not in the original post..but look at one of the items in the secrect docs:
"How British diplomats secretly floated the idea that Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein - seen then as a figure to be courted - could be brought to the UK for a back operation."
Sounds like the program that Clear Channel radio was using to detect hits. They would feed music in one side, and magically out the other it would tell the suits what was 'Popular' music
In conversations with our customers we hear more and more of them looking towards VOIP to lower their phone costs - esp Asterisk. Right now I think anyone who can properly integrate Asterisk into business phone, and computer systems can find work anywhere.

I have not seen any change in the level of spam...except maybe that it has increased. With all the laws, lawsuits, etc I still get 1000 spams a day. Spam protection works, but is not perfect. I have gotten to the point where I have hidden email accounts that are receive only if I know you status.

No, He never mentioned any names. In fact they have a university sponsored blog where people rip on teachers all the time -> BY NAME!

No. I really want to know.

Wish I could tell you, but my registry is corrupt so I was not able to play the file
My favorite is: "do you ever wish the registry had never been developed?"

Looks like the opera PR machine is running at full tilt these days.
It looks like a small step in the direction for Microsoft to start trying to compete in this space. They have a long road ahead of them.

And our friend here has capitalized on it.
One wonders if the Microsoft/Google possible buyout was just a PR scheme to get more people to know about their browser.

I belive that it always has been the goal of a corporation to make a profit. That did change during the dot-com-boom, but we see where that lead us!
