So, it's an unneccesary risk to have to fire rockets to get off the ground? That is a very necessary risk, otherwise the whole space program doesn't work (less so than it already doesn't). Rockets screw up sometime, deal with it.
Workin in a theatre, whenever there was a problem, people calling in and incorrectly reporting it always made the problem worse. We would just find out what was going on (in the case of a massive fire, an easy task), and call it in on the land line (remember those?). I fail to see how blocking cell phones in a theatre is really going to be a life threatening issue.
How many people are gonna ditch their DVD collections just so they can watch with a few more scan lines? I don't think enough to cause a mass market shift like the HD DVD and Blu-Ray people are hoping. It's just gonna fragment the home theatre market more, IMHO.
Sure, it's cool. But how many people care enough to make it worth it? Especially if they're main target audience, the techie "early adopters", are pissed cuz of the DRM?
That's why people patronize Grannies.
Why would she buy a linux pc if she was using windows/mac only tools? Your comment is moot, because she obviously wouldn't want linux.
I don't know baout the rest of you guys, but I for one think that the whole lawsuit thing is just a smear campaign from various religious groups. They don't want the movie doin any more damage than the book, because obviously (by their very nature) relgious people tend to believe just about anything, so long as it's a good story. The christians are just mad cuz "The Da Vinci Code" is more interesting then the bible.
I fully agree with you, as I like to do the same type of thing myself. I was just pointing out that this specific example seems to be a bit un sportsmanly. My high school math class held a catapult competition, with the only limit on size being 'table-sized'. Imagine their surprise when we rolled up with a 9 foot roman catapult using 200 feet of bungee cable. My teacher said 'I said small ones!' to which we retorted, "you said table sized, and we like big tables." The following year, there was a specific weight limit in the competition.
I agree. That's why everyone is legally entitled to a trial by their peers- not the prosecutor's peers.
Otherwise whats the point of a jury? We have judges for deciding if it is against the law. The jury's job is to serve as a check against corruption in the courts. IMO, of course.
Yeah, but the spirit of the competition is to test ingenuity, not try to be the clever shmuck looking for loopholes. There's always one person who does the parachute route (having seen more than one of these competitions). Generally, the failing grade/ wedgies / whatever are enough to discourage the next person.
You think you're the first egg drop competitor to ever think of a parachute? It's not that clever.
And it still isn't against the rules, why? Because it's common knowledge that parachutes are gay.
I fail to see how your analogy makes any sense. I myself own one pair of shoes, three pairs of pants, and a dozen or two tshirts. I can pack up most of my belongings in a single bag. Unless I count my electronics. My computer is sprawling, and I own more cables then there are threads in my clothes. I'm easily using 75% of my 240 GB of HD space. Why? Because I don't throw away anything that could be valuable later on. With storage so cheap, why would you?
Comparison to what you carry on your person is irrelevant.
Actually, the WMV format is far superior to QT when it comes to properly compressing them to a low bitrate. I go out of my way to avoid installing QT (which is very difficult to get without iTunes bundled, isn't that more 'unfair bundling'?) because I don't like it as a player or as a format.
Not to say it's bad, it's just not the best.
Well, simply getting rid of copyrights would probably cause more problems then it solves. Now, shortening the lives of the copyrights, there, you may have something.
I'm troubled by your definition of 'better'. But in all seriousness, if the process were so transparent, I'd think it'd raise red flags simply because of the sheer lack of evidence.

We, the Prisoners Not Named Bubba (PNNB) resent your statement, and you will be hearing from our Lawyer as sson as his parole comes up.

Isn't that a good thing? Seems to me like a great way of managing both fuel deficits and population surpluses simultaneously!
Too late. Some big corporation is gonna patent it out from under their noses.

And this is what we like to call officially killing the joke. Come on man, we all know how it goes, that's why the little quips are funny.
Guess they call it anonymous coward for a reason.

Only losers use parachutes.
What are you, twelve? I'd argue with you, but it would go over your head. On a side not, quite amusing, in that 'kids on the short bus' way.
Well, there is that spiffy new holographic storage. Once it passes the vaporware stage, it oughta be pretty awesome.

And don't forget VIIV.

Two wrongs don't make a right, but three lefts do.
Hey man, no need to be rude. We all know 65.8% of all statistics are made up on the spot.
I disagree. It's ALWAYS funnier when France surrenders.
Hooray for Blender! Although I personally do like photoshop.
Don't respect em? You obviously haven't seen Tron...
