Just read your reference. Wow, Wow, Wow. It is amazing to see how fast the wheel turns. A classic example of 'The Party out of Power' (TPOOP) raging against all that 'The Party in Power' (TPIP) does and says. And vice versa.
And we as loyal subjects to the great political parties fall right in line and 100% support the position of our chosen side. It doesn't matter that at one time our leaders supported a particular cause. Right now they say it's wrong, and by damn we're behind them. And the other side is evil. Pure evil incarnate. Even though they now are supporting the postion that we supported an administration ago.
Don't read any party affiliation into this message. I have none, and none was intended. Career polititians are the root of our problems, from either side of the aisle. Just wait another election or two, we'll all be seeing red over the very things we think are vital to our survival now.

Calm the anger, think more clearly.
All political parties are corrupt. Both sides (don't know how this got to a two-sided argument, seems like there's lots of room in between) have been plagued by problems and scandal when they are the ones making the rules. Look back 50 years, the pattern is obvious. Maybe I'm a little fatalistic here, but I don't think political rant on /. will cause the politicians to realize how money/power hungry they are. The original intent was for a politician to come from the common people, serve a term or two, and then go back to his life. I think we'd have a much better government if we could follow that pattern. Career politicians are a huge part of the problem, be they Bill Frist, George Bush, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, whoever.

First the elections in 2000, and now aiding and abetting the dismantling of the right to free speech. Way to go, GW - you really packed the court with "objective" jurists - as long as they rule to keep restricting freedoms.

So you're saying that GW packed the court so he could win the 2000 elections. Wow, if he had that kind of power already, why did he want to be president?
Also, as has been mentioned earlier, just because someone is a journalist doesn't make them immune to criminal investigation. If this was truly a fishing expedition then I hope the parties responsible are reprimanded. But GW doesn't have any direct connection to the coroner's office, the newspaper, the state attorney generals office, or the state supreme court.
Incredible how fogged your head is. Try to calm your hatred.

  10. An example of interpolating narrow research on Coffee Maybe Not a Health Drink! · · Score: 2, Interesting

I think the problem with stories like this is that broad generalizations on health are made using one narrow area of research. In this case it is discovered that 4+ cups a day may cause heart disease.
Wait! Only if you have a certain gene that expresses itself. Or maybe it's because the gene causes a stressful life and it has nothing to do with coffee.
Perhaps in 20 years 1 cup a day will cause colon cancer. Maybe it will help you live 20 years longer. We are far too willing to jump to holistic health decisions based on a single narrow study.
I would hope that no one would make drastic life decisions (not that drinking/not drinking coffee should be that drastic) based on a single study.
Cut back on fast food, drink more water, eat more fruits and vegetables. My mom was trying to tell me that 20 years ago. You feel better and your body can better handle the impurities that you put in it. Then you don't have to focus so much on the small stuff.

I think they want to enforce a new revenue stream. Sure, right now the old services are still free, but what happens when the bugs are worked out of the new system? From reading the article, or at least the secondary article listed in the comments, I don't think there is liquid in the cup to start with. They are required to drop it on it's side. The advantage to this cup is that it is heavier (or more accurately, as one poster put it, denser) at the bottom. This way the cup 'rights' itself on the way down.
