I think the only way a Gates innovation like "Creative Capitalism" will really take off is if it has a nice logo to indicate when something is Creative Capitalism compliant. I suggest two lowercase C's in a circle.
Generally when people talk about oil, they are primarily referring to petroleum. Bundled along with this are various petroleum byproducts, such as methane and ethane. However, those gases can form in other ways, too. Simply because they are present in other places in our solar system doesn't mean that they are found with oil. I have yet to see any mention of petroleum found elsewhere. Any mention I have seen compares the quantities of these gases found elsewhere to the supplies of oil on Earth. They're not saying that oil is out there.
I'm not sure if you meant that as a joke or if you were serious. Either way, it's been modded Insightful by someone. Oil would be too big of a discovery. If there were oil, then that would be definitive proof that Mars once did have organic life.
Now, the other day I spent about 2.5 hours on a Skype video call, and a few days before that I downloaded an ISO over HTTP (Mythbuntu). Will activities like those eventually be labeled a breach of service, because of their nature as "continuous transmissions at high data rates"? What about visiting Hulu? I think those are all pretty legitimate questions.
And you were doing this from a cell phone, or a cell-tethered computer?
Wow, I just read through the comments at a threshold of 0, and it's clear that a whole lot of you can't seem to understand that WE'RE TALKING ABOUT A 3G DATA NETWORK. So all you people talking about downloading large files using BitTorrent or playing WOW, how many of you do that from YOUR FUCKING CELL PHONE?!?!?
God I hope it's the house shown here. I'd really like to see how well that argument of "lowering the value of their house" works. I mean, I'm pretty much seeing a small shack on some dirt with a coupla garages. But they do have a pool!
Riiiiight...You do realize you get more of a workout doing 50 or so jumping jacks (takes about a minute) than you do playing Wii Sports for 5 or 10 minutes. Or to put it more succinctly, if you're getting a workout from Wii Sports then you are horrifically out of shape.
To the OP, I'd suggest both biking and running. I'm an introvert and I have no problem doing either of those things (of course, everyone is different). I mean, once you get out there and start moving, it's not like you're actually around the same people for more than a few seconds at a time. And if it feels like you've been following someone for too long (or they've been following) then it's easy to head down a different road or change direction or something.
If you're concerned about some pudge, just get some baggy gym shorts and a dark wicking t-shirt. Seriously, if you get out and ride 10-15 miles and run 3-4 miles every few days (say 3 times a week), you'll start shedding weight pretty quickly. And you'll feel a whole lot better, too!
To finally see a graphical Nethack or slashEM on the DS one day, I might even buy the DS just to fiddle with it and play nethack. Would be a fun way to waste time.
Because I would rather a world where the game with the giant golems and rabid werewolves, with griffins soaring in the sky while vast mythological beasts known down skyscrapers, be excellent.
why wouldn't it be informative? he is exactly right. geothermal IS finite. solar is NOT a fix. atleast PV isn't.
Because it shows a complete lack of understanding of the time-scales involved in the Earth's (and Sun's) processes. Do you honestly think that mankind (or anything even remotely resembling mankind) will be around in several billion years? Keep in mind that the history of advanced life on Earth is *only* several hundred millions of years.
I really enjoyed playing FFIII on the DS, and I picked up FFIV DS over the weekend. So far it's really good. Sure, it's not the most sophisticated game on the planet, but it is a decent story-based RPG, and it makes good use of the dual screens.
Exactly. Look at what happened when iTunes gave people a legitimate service that was easy to use where they could get their music online. Yes, there were a few around before that, but none were as braindead simple to use as the ITMS.
Considering you can only play Java content (and as Akir point out below, only content that conforms to the BD-J spec), I'd say it's fairly unlikely that we'll see any pirated content using this method. Unless you want to pirate some of the Blu-ray minigames....
Unless I missed something (which is entirely possible), I think the more important story here is that someone has found a way to be able to load what appears to be ANY Java-compatible code on the PS3 via nothing more than a USB memory stick. At the moment, this has manifested itself in the form of Pong. But it'll be exciting to see what else people come up with in the coming weeks and months.

Duh, they've discovered OIL on Mars!

I was thinking more about the recent wiretapping scandal. But yeah, I guess they have a history of not being too open.
At least AT&T is open about what it's doing.
I agree with your statement. But you do see the irony in the above quote, right? : p

Of course not; it's spelled Canadia.
I was taught to spell it Canaduh.

Haven't tried any of them yet, but here you go.

Nuff said.
Sad that they truly don't seem to learn from their mistakes....
PREDICTION: Microsoft misses the mark yet again!
Very good point. It's actually more a case of us not understanding what the symbols actually represent.

The ad got the product name wrong, it's suppose to be iESX.
They should've just called it VMware SEXi. "I need to go fiddle with the SEXi server."
slashdot apparently is a guerrilla marketing site. Who knew?
*raises hand*

For comparison, 1080p HDTV has 1080 lines of resolution.
Actually, 1080p has 1920 lines of horizontal resolution (just under 2K, which is 2048).
whereas my first car was" L!kj%nb^
I still haven't found the car in Nethack...
Worse still would be if the books they found (and based their religion on) was "the collected works of George Lucas"
Ahhh yes, the age-old rift between that Haninites and the Greedites...
