Almost any system can be hacked by someone sooner or later. If a crack was found in SSH that allowed a root shell, would the person responsible for the code be held responsible? or the guy who admins the server?
I personally blame the guy who set out to intentionally steal data like that. It's not like a faulty SSH could be interpreted as a welcome invitation to come in and take what you want.
One other thing I like about Verizon FIOS is that the price they quote is what you pay. I'm on a $139.99/month plan (15/15 with 5 static IPs) and that is exactly what my bill is each month.
I'm making a mental note of that. I'd love to encourage businesses to be up-front about pricing. I understand the whole concept of sticker shock, but I'm on a budget.
Fahrenheit 451 and Orwell's 1984 should be required reading in our schools.
Fahrenheit 451 was required reading when I was in high school, that was 1995 in... Kansas City of all places. (tee hee!)
Dunno if that matters, but given some of the other things that have happened in Kansas schools in recent years, I thought a couple of you might find that amazing.
Not long after this shit, there was a building in Europe, where the fire was so intense, it burned everything off. The steel structure was still standing but oxidizing flame was enough to melt or buckle steel in the trade center? The sheer ignorance of the American populace astounds me.
I hear ya, man. When my Ford Pinto went up in flames, nobody in America would believe it was because the gubment put a bomb in my car!!! Stoopid ign'rant country.
What you're seeing people is the well-established decline in intelligence and determination which comes with the "google-it" culture.
What I'm seeing that the nerd crowd hasn't shrunk, their tasks have just become more mainstream. Not everybody in the world shares your passion to dig as deep into blinkie things as possible. The world isn't falling apart, it just got bigger and you didn't notice.
The first part of your post went that way, sure. The second paragraph, the way you wrote it, was a comment on the technology. There's a big difference between "That technology isn't new."... and... "They failed to show me what is actually new about this technology that hasn't been done before in the last 10 years."
I trust NoScript, but I don't want to visit their website after after every update.
Then you don't trust NoScript.
I really don't see the point of this rebuttal. I trust my doctor, but that doesn't mean I'm going to hand him a rubber glove and drop my pants every single time I visit.
Having seen that, it looks like they took existing techniques for stitching together pictures and added a dynamic capability to that. Cool but not really a brand new concept. Photo stitching software has been around for 10 or more years.
Photostitching, sure. That dynamic capability, uh, no. That's the important new bit. What you said is like complaining that the first automobile was just a repackaging of horse and buggy technology.
And as a customer, you bloody well better care about the success of the business. Unless, of course, you want the business to go away . ..
If your beef with the service is that they're not providing the service they promised, then you're in exactly the same boat, only you're still giving them money. Unless, that is, you enjoy grabbing your ankles and waving your bare ass around.
Really? So if you built a commercial network, you would want the FCC to dictate how you police your traffic and what QoS measures you implement? Sorry, but the less the goverment tells me how to run my business/network/enterprise, the better. If customers don't like it, they need to make it known via their wallets.
That's an interesting theory. Anyway, back here in reality, there isn't much practical competition for that sort of voting to work. That's how it ended up becoming an FCC problem.
Oh, and by the way, as a customer/consumer, I don't give a flying fuck about the success of your business. If you can't provide a good service at a fair price and make a profit, you don't deserve to be in business no matter how much you whine about how lousy your customers are.
Some families pass on the family name, we pass on the family Slashdot UID.
Oh please. Until evolution cooks up chicks that are turned on by Starfleet Away-Team gear, we all know there is only going to be one generation of Slashdotters.
Does it run Linux?
Considering that he didn't have to type furiously at each step, I imagine not.
I got a great blow-job last weekend. It was like she was making out with my dick.
It was wonderful.
And when you were done, did you type 'afk' and light a cigarette?
"Technically doesn't that depend on whether he's happier with a red ring or a blue screen?"
If either were even remotely as common as Slashdot's made them out to be, then yes.
And I don't own an Xbox 3shitty, so complete miss there. If I wanted yet another half-assed Microsoft product, I'd get a copy of Vista.
You'd be a LOT happier with an XBOX 360 than a copy of Vista.

Everyone knows the CIA hired the mob and anti-Communist Cuban militants to bring it down.
I wouldn't rule out Romulan involvement.

The titles imply that that the reviews itself are mediocre. English isn't my native tongue but this was easy to spot.
I wish I was so smart that I couldn't make sense of something like that until somebody corrected it.
full facials for years....oh wait, whats that, "full facial transplants", nevermind.
I don't know why you're stopping. You're right both ways!

Don't you have 100 tacos to buy and a Doctor Who marathon to watch?

because they decided to tie even their presentation to Windows, I could not see what they were trying to show.
Those were pretty harsh words for something you didn't see.
Aaannnd, WHY did you pick THAT particular analogy to share with us?
If a reasonable and intelligent conversation was going on, I wouldn't have had that post to respond to. So I had to go for shock. :P

Length, Width, Depth - only? What about the fourth dimension: Time? Are these going to be just static screens? It should be 4D.
With the notable exception of Myst, every video game has a concept of time.

At 0.001% of Nanos affected, it's probably more likely that your plane's engine bursts into flame than a Nano brought onto the flight.
The odds of TWO affected Nanos drop well below even that. Decrease the odds, bring your own affected iPod Nano!!
"NASA: Mars Lander sends most detailed Martian pics yet"
Gotta love the picture they used to illustrate that. "Most detailed pictures yet!" *low res picture of the whole planet.*
