This is Off-topic, but I've had 3 MacBook pros over the years and all were awesome as Windows machines. Today all three of them are still in active use, not bad since the oldest one was purchased in 2008. Before then I had Dell, Toshiba, Compaq, Sony, and Gateway laptops, all of which had a critical failure by year 2. (With the exception of Dell they all had terrible displays, Toshiba by far being the worst.) I did have one Macbook whose logic board burnt out, but Apple fixed it and for some reason replaced the LCD while they were in there. Yes, that was under the AppleCare warranty.
Sorry, I have no Linux experience to share on these machines. Actually I was under the impression that Apple's silliness made it really difficult to get Linux on there. I'm currently miffed at them because they no longer support Windows 7 within Boot Camp, meaning I either have to upgrade to 10 or go with a different laptop brand next time I upgrade. I mention this because I don't really know what's keeping Apple from disallowing dual-booting into Linux.
And to top things off, the device made use of a stylus. Steve Jobs famously said in 2010, "If you see a stylus, they blew it."
Right... as if Jobs would ever have been against the idea of selling an overpriced accessory for the iPad.
Any of you that have ever used a Palm Pilot, PocketPC, or Tablet PC knows deep down what he was really talking about, it wasn't general hatred of styluses.
... it also needs to convince people that when you use an ad blocker, "That's stealing. It's no different than ripping music. It's no different than pirating movies."
So you're saying that you cannot show any actual loss from the use of ad-blockers?
That's just wimpy. If you really want to annoy an Apple fan try bringing up that the first iPhone they purchased was obsolete. The odds are pretty good that they purchased their first iPhone only a few months before the release of the next new whiz-bang model. Certainly soon enough to start hearing about how woopy and hooray it is but so soon that they'll have to wait more than a year to have their new shiny. Then, no matter what they paid (most paid $200 on contract, which is why your insult won't typically work) you can play on their feelings of envy for the latest and greatest.
You can also mention that the Lightning cables break too easily. There's a decent chance they've had to visit an Apple Store (or paid $30...) to rectify it.
> Poking fun at a group of people of which you are a member is not a form of hostility.
No but calling them sheeple, implying they below-average in intelligence, and making remarks intended to be insulting about their sexual orientation *is*.
The competition has certainly been good. The features iOS has ripped off of Android are great. I can't believe it's been 8 years and we FINALLY have back button and a keyboard that shows us which case we're typing in.
It's a pity we can't discuss that without the word 'invent' being thrown around by everybody except Apple.
I was modded down last night for pointing out that Fandroids like talking about Apple.
Besides this story, here's a list of headlines on the front page right now:
"Pad Mini-Style Specs, On the Cheap, In Android-Based ASUS ZenPad S 8.0"
"Apple's First Android App Makes It Easy To Move To iOS"
"Apple's 16GB IPhone 6S Is a Serious Strategic Mistake"
You dumplings love to babble about Apple products then complain that they're over-hyped. I'm not complaining, though, it's quite amusing. It's like reading my ex's posts on Facebook!
If they don't, it will be exposed by geologic processes in another million years or so, and converted to methane or CO2 by bacteria, to the benefit of nobody.
You're willfully being obtuse, that's not helping you.
So what's your point? That it's being unearthed too fast?
The timescale is only relevant as it pertains to its effects.
Please list current effects we've seen. If you can, then I might start listening.
You mean like how in our own time-scale the CO2 levels in the atmosphere have been rising?
I wish people on this site would notice how misleading the headlines are whenever there's a topic about patents. "Microsoft patents page turning on a tablet!""OH noES!! You won't be able to turn pages on digital devices! Let's babble endlessly about prior art that has nothing to do with the specific bit that was actually patented!"

Why is this modded down? You guys normally love pointing out when Apple copies Android!
The PD didn't even think it looked like a bomb, that's why the school wasn't evacuated.
Yes, it's a neat story, but no there was zero reason to tie this into recent events.

Bear in mind that Slashdot generates revenue from clicks.
I didn't realize doors in the 15th century were designed to prevent butt-dialing.

Oh the irony.
No. Fapples love their phones. Fandroids are openly hostile to everyone else's phones.

... Fandroids want to talk about Apple some more.
+4 Insightful for saying he doesn't use a popular service. Apparently there are acceptable levels of elitism.

The Ouya didn't fail because of the marketplace and people said the same thing about the XBOX.
That'll be great... next year when I buy a phone new enough to have been blessed by both the manufacturer and the carrier to run Marshmallow.

Why not use the accelerometer to track XYZ movement instead of just rotation?
Drift.
How did you get from the Youtube comments section to Slashdot?

You're a bunch of hypocrites.

So... what, you're testing the algorithm?
