A tablet may not be the best place to run virtual machines or servers, and nothing else really requires more than 8GB of RAM. Win 8 will run very well with 8GB.

What about ditching the windshield and replacing it with a 4k HD screen? Then you can embed the driver lower-down and deep inside a protective hardened shell. A no-glass car all around.
Then how about ditching the wheels, and just simulate movement on the 4K screen. You could drive as fast you want in perfect safety.
I'm halfway through the article but so far all I've read is "blah blah blah". Atrocious website that requires a cut-and-paste into a word processor to make the narrow article even readable, and as utterly devoid of content as the reader's digest article I read at the dentist.

All those genes make humans look like flunkies. And knowing a tiny bit about Darwin maybe we could take into account that a pine tree can easily outlive any human ever born. And pine trees tend to have a very long history of reproduction compared to humans. So maybe all the thinking, feeling and running about that humans do is simply proof of our inferiority. think about it. The pine tree needs water, sunshine, a few minerals and an atmosphere and that is about it. Humans need all kinds of things. I've never seen a tree shoot anyone, go mental, or rape other trees. Trees might enjoy making humans feel like idiots.

The linked article says 'unspecified open source license'. Not all open source licenses are free (as in libre). Even if it is free, it doesn't change the fact that Valve primarily makes non-free software.

Here's my reasoned, non knee-jerk response: Google can fuck off, and -- within the bounds imposed by professionalism and etiquitte -- so can eveyrone else wearing these infringements to my privacy. (In what I consider the moral sense, as opposed to the legal sense)
Apparently not, if you test the ability and familiarity with the material, it is quite possible that every child get nearly 100% on the test. It sounds to me that what you actually want is to try to rank children relative to each other.
The only problem I see with it is that it doesn't appear to be particularly resistant to stupid people. What if someone decides to actively sabotage it - e.g. blowing up a section of tube just before the car arrives at 1300 km/hr. Now imagine they do that somewhere downtown.

The taste isn't diminished THAT much by cold unless you're serving it ice cold. (colder than fridge temperature).
You may taste more of warm beer, but for some (including me) this is outweighed by the fact that it's warm. I find near room-temperature drinks (or food) of any kind pretty gross. It feels like drinking from a still swamp. Ugh. It's got nothing to do with the taste.
The same observation about 'warm' beer can probably be made about anything. Probably room-temperature sorbet has more taste than frozen sorbet, but wtf wants to eat that?
In summary, eating/drinking is enjoyable not merely because of "taste", but also because of touch (texture) and temperature.
?? I always drink beer out of the can. They're much more convenient than bottles (don't break), and there are many many good beers available in cans. I've never seen or tasted any evidence that canned beer is worse than bottled.
What an abomination. I hate touchpads, and indeed disable them upon boot. They always f up my typing whenever my palms hit them. I wouldn't be able to even use this thing. And what was wrong with the old thinkpad keyboards? I don't want chiclets!

Four years? Not in Canada - and presumably not in the US either. The department average in my program was more like 6 (I took about 6.5), and I've known people who have taken as long as 10 to complete their PhD.

I can't stand the Model M. The noise drives me nuts for one, and I find them very tiring to type on. The keys take more force to depress, and the travel seems much further than other keyboards. The numeric keypad is a huge waste of space on my desk (does anyone except accountants use these?), and I actually have to use my mouse to adjust volume.
"Best ever made" is highly subjective. I'll stick to my $50 thinkpad keyboard, which even comes with a trackpoint so I don't even need to lift my hands to mouse.
"Slighty less stable"? Something is either stable or it isn't. Maybe the word you're looking for is "unstable". Not sure who you deal with, but everyone I know would notice and not tolerate instability or a crash. Modern OSes are pretty reliable. Kernel panics and blue screens are so rare that when they happen, it's noticed.
