It wasn't all that long ago that Best Buy's Geek Squad came under fire for using a bunch of unlicensed software to do their jobs. I don't think anyone lost their jobs but I know Best Buy paid a very hefty fine. It's only so long before you're caught. I'd agree with the majority that it's best to take the moral stand and find new work ASAP.
I'm fairly certain the tennis racket the school issued me in PE is just as dangerous as a hammer. Oh no I have a pen too, arrest me now before I hurt someone. This is MADNESS, people have been doing this for years. I've played CS:Source in countless "real" locations in game. Highschools, homes, retail stores...
On another note I believe it is legal for anyone to be voted onto the school board. There is no age limit in this state (WI). Even a high school student could get elected.
I'm not saying this is better. It's just what I pictured as I read TFA. I guess we'll have to see what happens in 3years. We have these roadblocks to stop useless information for a reason. I agree that this may not be worth the billions it no doubt costs.
I kind of envisioned the Terminator like view. Little target reticles on a visor in front of your face. I'm not sure if this device would be sensing stuff all around you or just in front of you. I think their goal is to reduce the amount of reaction:action time gap. Spend more time being proactive about the danger then reacting.
As the OP mentioned though if every piece of trash tumling by sets it off that would be a great recipe for a psychotic breakdown. Paranoia here I come!
I wonder if Joe Anthony is still a big supporter of Obama after all this crap. If I were a bitter individual(I'm not) I'd pull the profile down or possibly deface the site. As it's been stated 50k is a fraction of 26million. His request doesn't seem unreasonable. Especially for 2.5yrs of work.
Hasn't a precedent been set for copyrighting numbers. If I recall didn't Michael Jordan try to buy/copyright the number 23? Imagine the royalties you could reap from textbook publishers =)
Even if his disbarment goes through that won't stop him from randomly sueing anyone and proclaiming himself a "expert" in whatever strikes his fancy. Granted he won't be able to argue/represent his own case. The only mountain he will have to climb will be finding another crazy lawyer to represent him.
That's a excellent point. Though I bet we don't get a handicap. I think it'll end up being console players get some form of autoaim. Then again that's just the FPS genre. RTS games are far better on the PC as well. I really only think that consoles are best for driving games and the action/adventure genres (jak&daxter, devil may cry etc). Even then the PC still fares more then well.
There is also that issue that the PC has the potential for running all kinds of stuff in the background. Last thing we need is a bunch of counterstrike wall/speed hacks marring the consoles.
Prehaps someone could provide more info then I could on this but isn't the current system that 1 players xbox hosts the game. A lot of midrange PCs might run into CPU troubles with hosting and maintaining a 1/2way decent frame rate for whichever game.

I'll admit the idea of using a xbox controller for a few games on the PC slightly appeals to me (flying games/racing). Nothing is ever going to replace a keyboard/mouse combo for a shooter game though....
Making a game controller compatible to get the "games for windows" tag is completely crap though. Windows == PC == Keyboard/Mouse. No way should a controller be a requirement.
Where are the parents? Like it was mentioned only minors would really object to federal laws restricting sales of violence in >insert medium to minors. Surely that can't hurt but when it comes to it, it is the parents job to raise their kids.
The government should provide the base guidelines, it's the parents job to fine tune them. I'm not saying have the government regulate everything. Just that there should be penalties if a 14yr old strolls into Best Buy and walks out with some "adult" entertainment.
I love Blizzard's games, let's face it they know how to make a good one. Unfortunatly some of their practices are more then questionable. I'm all for anticheating and whatnot. A handful of cheaters can really ruin a game (Counterstrike...) but overstating their claims is only going to catch them a lot of flak. And even more pissed off gamers.
I wonder how they'll handle the other slashdot discussion about china limiting gaming to 3hours. If 3rd party programs issued by the Chinese Government blocking their game from running I've no doubt they'll consider that a violation of the EULA too.
Well the picture had fins for steering. Helicopters don't too my knowledge. In fact helicopters steer by tilting in the appropriate direction if flight sims taught me anything. Also this "hover-copter" is pushing/sticking air all around it's sides because of the shape so I think the force would equal out because it would be equal on each side. A helicopters is focused directly on one side so it can go that direction.
Just my guess.
I usually hit up my email then Slashdot, usually followed by CNET, then it's on to Gamespot, 1Up, The Escapist, BBC, CNN, and lastly a quick stop at PennyArcade to check for the latest laugh. These tend to occupy a full 8 hours if I read through the user comments and make some posts (like this one!).
Small Disclaimer: You may wonder what I do for a living but I work for a small company who's business tends to fluctuate quite heavily which may or may not provide me with a insane amount of free time at work.

I died a little on the inside when I read this. :(

Somebody tell Heraldo quick!

Now if I could just get this web shooter to work.....

Aren't those "men" known as The French?
I smell the makings of a all new Reality TV show.

Depends, am I the mayor or one of the village people(pun intended)?
They're just going to cure mice & rats with it, leaving the humans high & dry.

The cops around here are driving brand new Dodge Chargers..... our taxes hard at work :(
But how do you kill that which has no life?

Now we have our own device to abduct aliens from their homeworlds.
