  2. Old Adventure Games on Email Worse Than Marijuana For Intelligence? · · Score: 1

I'm serious when I say if they made some of the old Sierra and LucasArts adventure games part of the school computer class - problem solving and logic skills as well as typing and grammar would improve!

To myself and most of us, this sort of thing should be common knowledge. if an end user has an understanding how how their windows system works - are we in violation of the dmca by simply existing?

This paper didn't teach me much - just reaffirmed what I already knew. Maybe I should turn myself in to the rcmp.

I don't know if this is comment worthy, but The Bell Canada Sympatico DSL service BLOCKS port 25... so if you have a remote server (ie: your own mailserver out there on the net) you can't use it as your smtp server.... you only allowed to use sympatico's smtp servers.

  13. Not about Censorship... on Directors Counter-Sue Movie Bowdlerizing Company · · Score: 0

I don't think of this companies product as something protectable by end-user fair use... they are not an end-user. They have purchased copies of movies for the sole purpose of getting them from the hands of the supplier to the hands of the consumer - before this transaction they are removing words, altering scenes, much like as if they were crossing out words or tearing out pages. This is censoring the product before it gets to the audience. In a sense, they have broken the terms of their deal with the supplier, and by that, the creator of the artistic piece.

Is it possible that if Microsoft were to be split up, we'd be back to the days of purchasing a printer and 27 drivers for the popular applications of the day, and if you were using the 28th popular application, the printer was useless? I understand that MS bashing is popular here, but what about the good things a singular x86 GUI has brought us?

We've also setup Cisco AirOnNet systems.... but 45 miles is quite a distance. Cringly did some tinkering with this stuff and got it to go a REALLY long distance - check his archives for the exact post.

The problem is that Russia and China don't want the States there - that land is their bitch. They want us to stay on our side of the pond. Proper diplomatic relations with the remains of those former superpowers will ensure the manifest destiny... and us Canadians will just follow along as our pissy government always does.
