Mr Mercedes and Mr Benz where the first to bring us the car.
They where the first to fit powerstearing as standard
They where the first to fit ABS as standard
They where the first to fit SatNav as standard (well in most of the range)
They where the first to bin petrol/gas?
They do inovate at Mercedes so it wouldnt surprise me if they did it.
You must also remember that the governments of both the UK and US have not changed since 9/11. I beleive this will change in the near future. Mabe we can get the new lying gits to repeal some of the idiotic laws they have passed.
Then again mabe im just living in cloud cookoo land.
I belive this is what the BBC are trying to do. They are looking at having a distributed system so that each ISP will hold a BBC server to hold the content from their sites so the ISP only needs to download it once then distribute that on its own network.
Even though there is a P2P system in place for the iPlayer i think the figures are around 60% just stream only and dont download. Mabe the p2p model may work better if its within their own network as they could limit the p2p to only users on their network. This may slow down the downloads a little but if your as big as Virgin or BT it could save buckets of money that the ISP's are having to pay for their upstream bandwidth.
I have opera Mini on my N95 along with my 'built in' symbian browser. It does feel faster that the built in browser but gives an 'overview' page that you cant read but see the entire page. It does render full web pages faster and it is easy to read after you zoom into the text.
Mostly I use the browser on my phone to find things when im out and about and to read mostly news pages (including this wonderful web page) when poping out for a smoke.
Overall it works quite well and Im happy with it.
It also means that as a bounty hunter (which Greedo is supposed to be) is the worst shot in the entire universe. Being 2ft away and missing then getting shot.
I must admit i didnt see the change in the remake and had to go look at it again after all the 'HAN SHOT FIRST' stuff n t-shirts where out to find what the hell it was all about. After then seeing the Greedo shot in the remake it didnt change the scene. Han was going to get shot.. so killed Greedo self defence in both instances.
IRC ftw:) Im same i dont use instant messageing or facebook, myspace etc.. last thing i need is a bunch of trolls adding me as their 'friend' who cares.
The IRC channel i use has all my friends on it and we lurk in there most of the day. We also have a web interface for connecting to it so you dont need a dedicated client (handy if your at work)
Not sure about the LG but the N95 has a flickr client on the phone to upload pics directly to it. Its quite handy if your out on the road and need a pic available onine. Ok you do need a flickr account first but most peeps have those anyway.
I was commenting on UK prices.. for the Iphone to fly it HAS to compare to what is currently on the market. If you want to pay that kind of money in the US then feel free. My N95 (160mb with 2gb card) cost me £60 or $120 at current exchange rates.
Do you NEED 50 days of continuous music or just a couple of hours on the way/home/at work? As for battery life I use mine for most of the day on mp3/calls etc and plug it in every night when im at home/car.. it IS a phone after all. I have found on standby without using it at all will last 2 days without charge and the occasional call. As for the size yes it isnt the smallest phone in the world but with the amount of stuff packed into it, it means i dont have to carry a PDA, Crackburry (it has N95 pop mail client or just use wifi/3g to access web mail), mp3 player, digital camera and FM radio. So for an all in one device i can live with the weight/thickness.
My nokia N95 does all this plus 3G, the screen isnt as big as an Iphone but it also has a 5 mp camera with a proper lense (carl zeiss) has an unlimited download limit with my contract (ok not realy but thats how they advertise it.. you get told off if you download more than 1gb on your phone)it does vidio calls, mms, it also has google maps (download) and GPS which if you buy the addin will do voice navigation for you.
For entertainment it has an MP3 player (fairly decent) FM radio and Real player for videos (ok this isnt the best thing in the world)
You can also use it for a 3G modem to connect to your laptop. The OS isnt locked down (symbian 60) and you can find lot of software available to do mostly anything. It also comes with its own version of an 'office' package which does basic wordprocessing, spreadsheet and presentations, it also has a PDF viewer. These come as standard on the phone.
For this i payed £60 for the phone on an 18 month contract of £35 per month.
With this thing on the market (which is getting close to being a year old.. new one on the way im sure) along with other high tech phones anyone who buys an Iphone is doing it for the name/badge/title/status and IMHO is an idiot:)
Basically Science Fiction is a speculation on what life will be like in the future, I don't know how you could say Star Wars wasn't science fiction. You've got advanced civilizations with huge futuristic cities and clone warriors and a bunch of other stuff. As for Serenity/Firefly being sci-fi, check http://www.fireflywiki.org/Firefly/CategoryTechnol ogy for information about their Technology. dosent star wars begin.. a long time ago in a galaxy far far away?.. that is in the past not future Star Wars is Sci-Hi(story):)
Do i need to say more?
We all know running any VM app is always going to be slower than a real OS on real Hardware.
Ok mabe I didnt realise how much slowdown their was but there are easier and cheaper ways to run web servers. Nice to have given it a go and gathered stats but nothing new.
No, first stop for blame is Windows for not taking care of this sort of thing. This is exactly what OS's are supposed to do.
Your RIGHT!!
AFTER Windows has checked the drivers to see what its supposed to be able to support.
If the driver says it can support YxZ rez then windows allows you to select YxZ rez (for games blame the makers), if not then how the hell is windows supposed to know.. magic!.. little pixies!
With a Mac it will do the same thing but as the hardware is so tight with the OS they will write to that standard of the screen.
What im thinking is that the ATI card is specific to the Mac and they dont have the windows drivers ready for it - mabe im wrong i dont know what the ATI card is.
The reason why it 'just works' is because the HW is made to Mac standards not the million and 1 different HW setups for windows - this is why windows drivers are important.
Looking on the plus side it means than anyone who makes a song can put their track online easily WITHOUT any music/distribution/theiveing gits getting their hands on it.. all monies to the person/people who make the music.
On another note im not big on the song but its the principle that a download only track can be made No1.
COH/COV is a single payment per month.. so i belive is SOE for its packages of MMO's SWG,Planetside,EQ/EQ2
Wouldnt be surprised if NCsoft started doing a complete monthly payment plan for all its games.
If someone made an striped out version of Vista with halo 2 on it all you would need is a virtual machine running on your PC to allow u to play this. No need to even reboot:)
At the end of the day if you treat the mail room guy the same as the CEO eg all the same there shouldnt be any problem
Also remember that YOUR the admin and the are the Lusers:)

Dont forget the study was done by Cisco .. now what is Cisco's business????
you must be new here .. welcome to slashdot .. the place where we slag off ms whenever we can :)
Does this mean that MS are going to inflict another operating system on us in the near future?
Ticket for Olympics for 2012 £1500. Over priced food £200 for a hot dog. Getting nuked in the arena because there isnt any security .. PRICELESS :)

I for one welcome our new mooning overlords!
Why just a security guard..why not a fully trained soldier from the US Army. Just like the idiot who shot down an RAF Tornado during Gulf II

Considering that the people who where the early adopters of this new technology are gona be rich lawyers and business men/women etc :)
