It's about Microsoft telling me that I can't use my leaglly obtained software or entertainment content because it doesn't meet their standards (ie: it's not signed). It's about DRM systems suddenly deciding that you can't boot Linux anymore.
Bottom line: It's about me losing control of what I own. My computer is mine and you, Bill Gates, et al just keep your fucking hands off!
That's one of the reasons I "downgraded" back to Windows 2000 from Windows XP (that and bizzare issues with XP) and have refused to upgrade Windows Media Player beyond 6.x and not upgraded IE.

Unlike TV sets, there is no law that says a CRT computer monitor has to rated by the viewable area. CRT sizes are shown as the actual size of the picture tube, outside edge to diagonally opposed outside edge. LCD monitors are subject to the law that says that display measurements have to reflect viewable area.
And yes, you are absolutely correct in your assertion that these people engage in deceptive advertising. It amazes me that people trust the computer manufacturers at all when you consider the crap they pull.

Actually, yes. Paml M130's generate 58,000 colors through some sort of dithering or pixel strobing technique. The display can only generate 4096 actuall colors. The problem is that this makes for really crappy images and, more to the point, is a flat-out lie.
The REAL point of contention is not the number of colors, but the fact that Palm Inc. lied to its customers.
You can turn off most, but not all of the XP themeness. There are other issues with XP that make it less than desirable. I recently "downgraded" all of my workstations from XP to Win2K because of rampaging stabiility issues. That and draconian lisencing terms that I am not willing to allow into my house.
Win2K is much faster and much more stable than Windows XP. Yes, WinXP does bring up your desktop sooner, but is the syetm actually able to run your programs any sooner? No. They've just changed the order of some of the startup routines.
Another favorite "Hoax Clue" is the wrong way shadow of the astronauth saluting picture. It is rather obvious to anyone looking at the astronauts feet that the man is not standing on the little hill he appears to be standing on, but is actually in mid-air (for lack of a better term). The video of the same event shows him saluting and jumping up off the ground.

The point is that this type of FO is much better suited to domestic applications, and applications where using glass FO is not practical (ie: running through conduits not designed for FO). This doesn't look like it's aimed at replacing backbones, but nore like last-mile technology.

True. The homosexual community went through a complete overhaul when people realized what AIDS was. The days of the rampant exchange of sexual partners is a thing of the past. It was the frequent exchange of partners, not what these partners did with each other (remember, gay men can't get each other pregnant and most STDs before AIDS could be cured, and even Herpes, which could not, could at least be treated) that spread AIDS so fast through their population.
If AIDS had hit the heterosexual population during the heydey of the Disco era, and the rampant exchange of hetersoexual partners common of that era, AIDS would be seen as just another STD.

HIV is evolving faster than almost any other known virus. But AIDS is more than just HIV. The failing immune system is going to let whatever other diseases in the population run rampant. The changes in the AIDS sysmptoms could be the result of changes in the infected population. AIDS is not as simple as the common cold. No two people will have the exact same symptoms. Ever.
It is truley unfortunate that AIDS was briought into teh United States by a homosexual. It just as easily been brought into the country by a heterosexual, but it wasn't. What, pray tell, is so "Gay Related" about AIDS? Do not hetersosexuals engage in all of the activities that can transmit AIDS?
