The problem with censorship isn't the desire to prevent harm, but the fact that it implies that there is some moral standard by which we all should run our lives, which I find utterly offensive to my own freedom. Children will see things eventually, so instead of hiding the truth from them, as an adult give them some parallax and understanding on what they are seeing.

Religion, mysticism, and the supernatural are all rooted in this same tenet of moral superiority, and it is so unintelligent to be a proponent of it.

What if we were to stop eating meat as a society? Would that be evolution through choice and self selection? I just think that to truly be human, you can't lock yourself into any niche in biology and must be able to change as dynamically as the world around you.

I'm not a climate scientist, but I think I have a decent enough understanding of physics to realize it is easy to overlook a variable when coming to conclusions, especially about a system as complex as the climate. I'm not suggesting being afraid of unknowns in this world, but just that minimizing our presence is the most effective way to determine how the system is actually operating.

We need a radical shift in our lifestyles and ways of thinking if we as a species are to survive, unless you want to see some pretty cool carbon dioxide emissions (explosions) from deep water reserves in the next fifty years.

As if all of the sudden when you gain intelligence, the rules of evolution change to a new set. Perhaps the term evolution should always be prefaced with a qualifier, such as "biological" or "human" where the qualifier has distinct meaning, and can make it a subset of other qualifiers. It just seems to me that the increase in our intellectual evolution is no different than biological evolution. Not to say we shouldn't put our effort into researching cognitive science, it is a remarkable field. But I think looking at it in this way makes us feel special for no good reason and can muddy the waters more than clear them.
