    CPU usage is DEFINATLY related to gnome-vfs-daemon and nautilus they are each using 30-40% of the cpu while copying files.

    Does nautilus and gnome-vfs-daemon still dominate CPU usage when copying files over SMB?

    I cant find any info on this pretty major bug so I dont know if it is the Ubunutu packages or the actual gnome code.

    But copying 4gigs should not require 40 minutes on a network all while the CPU is pegged

    If you told them that they will believe it, look at how much word changes every version as it is.

    They are not small visual changes but usually pretty major. Every new version people need to adjust to it, it is no different than them adjusting to OO instead

    Everyone said that at my office when i replaced some office installations with open office...
    i just told them it was the new version and they were satisfied.

    like most people, they dont mind different and new, as long as they feel like its not too different and new.

    Because the average office worker needs to type stuff. that is all. that is 99% of their word processing, TYPING things. people tend to forget that.

    How does themes matter to anyone? thta is a way to kill productivity because they are trying adjust the damned theme instead of using the application

    I agree that the GP did make a big deal about nothing...
    but in all honesty the default behavior for opening new links should be in tabs. that is the sane option and the user should have to specify if you want them seperately

    for some reason people never seem to understand the concept that memory recall is imperfect at best. in fact most people remember events out of order and justify the events based on that.

    ie you decided to have an orange, but in reality you grabbed the orange and justified it later by recalling that you desired it prior to deciding...

    So since there is DRM that means I cant copy the disc, therefore the store cant claim that I did if i want to return it...

    That should be a law, if you use DRM you must accept returns.

    Sadly. content providers think they have the right to say who has the privledge of providng the mere access to their content.

    they seem to have that crazy notion, they are being proven wrong, day in and day out,
    and that will continue without possibility of them ever winning in any way, shape or form.

    they can think they have the right, they can bribe the laws to act like they do, but in this reality they do not and widely available tools like this prove it.

    to hell with content providers that think they get to dictate the terms of my viewing. personally i wont support them at all, and i also hope they go broke and have to go back to stocking shelves. let the real creators continue, they are not so concerned about 10 people all watching a movie, they are interested in creating and making a living doing so, not being greedy little bitches.

    but for all intents and purposes yes, even in 2000 any tv you paid more than 30 bucks for had component connections.

    except that all tvs produced from the days of VCR supported that macrovision compatible garbage...so it is a BIG difference between then and now
