    i (average consumer) am downloading latest episode of 24 in HD with 5.1 sound thru my 3mbit connection to play on my HDTV DLP projector

    they (the industry have to realise) the future is netwoked not tied up in some heavily DRM'd disks

    i was recently involved in making a rapidshare.de style system

    the money earned from adverts covers the cost of dozens if servers and makes a nice profit

    U see when it comes to software its easy choice for a business,

    u either pay a fee (for windows based products)

    or u go open source and hope u dont get stung by weird licensing or high costs of hiring professional geeks to fix ur software

    btw i myself run several linux,freebsd servers and i love them, after initial pain of getting evrything to work they just keeps working

    im all for windpower

    BUT

    Why wouldnt you try to run a steel factory on windpower?!

    windpower generates energy at unreliable rate, and takes alot of land, with "not in my backyard" mentality it will be hard for wind power to take off

    US spends 300billion every year to squeeze oil out of Iraq

    here in europe we pay 1 euro 20cent per LITRE, thars several times more expensive than in the US, where the price is kept low so SUVs become economicaly viable to buy for middle aged school running mothers

    i love php5

    recently upgraded my servers to php5.1.2 and mysql5 running on apache2

    all my sites are programmed in OO php5 (i know it aint as good as java, but it does the job)

    the speed increase has been phenomenal (i think mainly to php5 using references instead of passing by value)

    i have a forum with 200 people on at any time with the server load barely above 1.0!! thats a celeron server as well!
