. I also bought a webcam for my g/f when she moved away some time ago... It was well worth it....It was well worth it. You sly dog. You're making the other slashdot geeks who pay monthly fees for that pretty jealous.
I just got done with my last final of the semester! Woooooooohoooohoohoooo!!!!!! I just popped a bottle of Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale. Ahhh... that's the taste of the semester being done.
being a currency trader is a risky business to begin with, but trading in FAKE currencies, where the government (in this case, UO patch team) can cause massive (in|de)flation at any time? There's a lot of money to be made, but the traders shouldn't whine so much when they get burned.
My pro wedding photos weren't any better than the ones my mom took. Yeah, he did the legwork of setting everyone and knowing how to get us organized. Which I'd gladly pay for.
Then why the heck does the photographer get the copyright? Either I should be paying someone to do a job (like paying a graphic artist to make me a graph) with a product that I keep, or the photographers should do the whole thing for free and only make money off the copyrights. To get both is just plain stupid.
disclaimer: I only know this because at my uni the dept of computer science is for some stupid reason in the school of aerospace sciences.
Lots of kids come in going for a commerical aviation degree dreaming of making a quarter mil a year. The reality? For the ones lucky enough to get a job out of college it's flying some puddle jumping prop for less than $20,000 a year. The guys making the huge money are flying the big jets, and they only get to do that because they have an insane amount of flight hours. Know who is able to rack up insane amount of flight hours (it's expensive)? That's right, retired air force pilots.
Experience can demand that kind of money because that experience is expensive/difficult to get in the first place.
It's obviously moved away from "personal computer". I just generally assume an Intel compatable computer running Microsoft Windows (some might argue that linux runs on a PC... more confusing).
Why are we letting "personal computer" become synonymous with Windows? That's certainly not good for competitors. Why does Apple say the iPod is available for Mac and PC when they really mean Mac, Windows, and anything else you can hack to work with it.
hit and run was a good rental. I was sick last weekend so I rented it an played through it in about 6 hours (didn't do most of the side missions). It's the best simpsons game ever (not saying much, really), simpsons fans will love the details in the levels. It's really half GTA, because all the weapons are gone and there's basically 2 kinds of missions: 1) drive somewhere before time runs out 2) collect dropped items (kinda like big n veiny in gta3)
in short: a good weekend rental, but i wouldn't buy it

oh great, now nearly every app is going to have a random ass ugly transtion between user interfaces, will use no fewer than 20 fonts, and have clipart everywhere. You will have to wait for each line of the EULA to slide, spiral, disolve or some other animation it's way onto the screen before you can click ok. Not only that, the application will surely present no other information than reading the bullet points to you.
I'm forced by the uni to buy their telephone service in order to have dsl. I'm in a cable modem area, but they have a deal with the uni that doesn't let them sell me service.
oh well, at least the uni dsl is fast and cheap 4mbit (little slower during the day) for under $30/month, INCLUDING the voice line.... so I guess I should quit complaining.
The difference being that Tivo has a product that KICKS ASS, while SCO... well....

Still no cure for cancer.
don't ps2 and xbox have wavebird equivilants by now?
not exactly cheap, I guess, but the only way to get rid of the cord problem is to get rid of the cords
Get some dictation software and whisper to it.
Polls are much more efficient. For example, Howard Dean is the democratic nominee and nobody had to waste their time voting, electronic or not.
"Of course, this is just a television poll which is not legally binding. Unless proposition 304 passes; and we all pray it will."

The Commies are pumping billions into Terrapixel research. There can not be a terrapixel gap!
A lot of blog software will let you post via email. Get a palm with a modem and email in your updates.
All the script kiddies out there thank you for profiling your system for them
they reserve the copyright so they can charge outrageous prices for reprints, xmas cards, etc.

I'm ever so happy the matrix-within-a-matrix theories were unfounded.
Thanks. I was going to find that out myself at the 2:30 Matinee, but it's much better that you posted that on the main page.

which is much easier to remember

Languages evolve. If they didn't, we'd all still be talking like we're reading beowulf
