    I still believe this vira would be more succesfull targeting mysql installations form popular linux distros.

    Or ask trolltech politely for a free version. Qt is not SOLD in a free GPL-only package for windows, but the licence is exactly the same as for X11 none the less.

    So unlike what many seems to believe, there is no legal issue with using Qt for Windows. Windows is just not traditionaly used for GPL development, and therefore a GPL-only package has not been given as high priority for windows as for linux/X11.

    Try tell that to a newbie. I am talking intuitive file systems, not just manageble ones. Package managers are manage tools, if the management was simple enough to start with, they wouldnt be needed. And a skilled person can ALWAYS manage on his one.

    Personally I like switching between stable and development version eg. KDE2/3. Therefore I never link things from /opt*/bin to /usr/bin.

    I like to think it is a good hint that I've done something right, whenever I dont need to be root to install or upgrade..

    Still forces you to use a package manager. But if you place all files to an application under the same directory, you can remove it The Logical Way(tm): By deleting the directory..

    What you suggest sounds like a recipi for a broken links.

    Compile KDE.. Just remember to compile ALL the C++ (e.i. qt) libraries with same compiler..

    I wont believe the results..
    (On non-x86 using a native compiler usually gives around x2-x10 faster application launch.)

    The really bizare thing is I've got tickets for the movie in the second biggest theater in Denmark at 0am 19. december. A friend of mine simply offered to arrange the entire show. And the only reason it didnt become iin the biggest theater, the one these loser are camping for, was becouse they wouldn't show the movie until an hour later(1am).

    Don't wait in line, just take initiative!!

    No they didnt..

    You shouldnt be so surprised, it quite normal for the marketing budget to be much larger that the R&D. In Intel this has been the case for more than 10 years, and in Microsoft it has always been that way.

    Why do you think much smaller companies and amateurs continues to keep up with them?? Miracles perhaps?? I dont think so!

    I dont think they can make that distingision anywhere in the EU. Here in Denmark ALL hardware and almost all office-software sold are OEM versions.

    It is always a bit wierd when you've bought a 400$ luxury graphic card to recieve it in a plastic bag with a CD attached with tape. :)

    Errmm... valid SML data charaxter sequences?
    You specify in XML, what encoding you're using (ascii/latin1/uft8). XML is not an encoding in itself, although the wierd HTML-"reinvent the wheel"-codes sometimes are used.

    Well actually peoply with higher educations make more money and therefore pays more back in taxes. It NO coincidence that average education level, income, standard of living and general happiness is MUCH higher in north europe than in the USA.(and yes the average income IS higher but so are prices and taxes, so we are only really rich when spending out money in less developed countries like the US) As for the best education, well we get more american students at Copenhagen University than we send abroad, becouse students know an american degree might be easily bought, but is often not worth the paper its printed on. As the government wouldnt pay for universities it doesnt approve of, it wouldnt pay for universities that are trying to devalueate the general education to make fast money.

    But it interresting to see that Rik's VM did NOT start to perform well until Linux adopted Andreas VM. Rik started posted a bunch of fixes to Alan Cox just around 2.4.10pre7 or whenever the Linus made the change.

    It's CO thats poisonous it's CO2.
    CO2 is very common, and in an environment with high concentrations, you would feel a normal chooking sensation. The dangerous part of CO-poisoning, is that you wont notice you are being choked to death, before you hit the floor.

    Alpha didnt have a DIV instruction either. They figured out it was rarely used in other processors and implemented it in software along with the MOD instruction..

    Funny how slashdotters always are able to point at an enemy, even themselves!!

    The point in THIS story however is that a diplomecy. Read the original statement from Zimmerman and this. It is clear that he feels they more or less intentionally misrepresented him, but that this is an internal conflict and he still wants good relations with them.

    Just agreeing with the posted stories, just show how unconsidered most slashdot post really are (yes, mine including ;-)

    Ehrmm.. Credit card don't actually have money stored on them. Thats a childrens tale.
    It just has a code to send it's bank, the extra security comes from the card taking part of the transaction so a malious terminal cant store the code.
