    So maybe they won't need hackers but better programs and computers? It is easier to start an IT war with more servers and other techniques.

    I wonder if India is doing the same? If they are I wonder what countries will they IT attack? Pakistan? Maybe the Indians will sell out to the highest bidder, since they have no loyalty to US or China...

    Also luck has a lot to do with this amazing achievement. Who would have thought that the Martian wind storm would clean the solar panels?

    Competition by China? It might work, but basically if true scientists and engineers keep sharing technology there will be greater achievements in the future....

    The stealth technology was discovered by the Japanese when they noticed variations in radar absorption of buildings and material,thus they license some of their information to the US who took the idea to the final product.

    Nonetheless Lockeed and their stealth skunk works helped pull up the miracle at the balkin wars, Desert Storm and the newest US Agression in Iran.

    The Chinese and Russians are hard at work to counter stealth technology so that they can both sell it and use it for their own purposes.

The same reason you want only english so that no one can speak about secrets in front of you? Sure globilization is great if you are in the cat seat, but terrorists and anti-authoritarians will develope and use a different language to avoid being detected....

    Public utilities like the telephone companies are also controled by the government in the US. Thus they were allowed to wiretap large telephone companies' facilities. I don't think the US has the ability to completely black out news like Burma, but I think the US military is taking notes on Burma so they can do the same thing...

    Looks like any machine that can produce a full page from one language to Japanese, English, Korean and both chinese character set(Mainland vs Taiwan classical) within an hour would be a winner. Unfortunately if there is no proofreader, the whole process will result in failure, embarassment and red faces...

    Actually the world is teaming with the International Space station and are very dependant on the Russians. I would think the Russians would jealously guard their payload advantage against Chinese competition.

    Strangely Japan seems to be going solo and not trusting the Russians, Chinese or the United States...

Basically the Union backed haters will haunt Walmart until they unionize but here at Slashdot there will be the internet snobs vs the internet idiots. Basically anyone hating Slashdot losing their forum, but targets like Walmart keep reappearing trying to gain respectability.

In addition to their gnawing they also store prodigious amounts of material in small spaces setting up fire hazards and preventing ventilation. If Bush is serious on his war on terror he should target Rocky Bin Ladin Squirrel.

    Even though the investigation isn't over,the replacement battery for Li Polymer(whatever) will be NiCad (using a subsidary (of course)). They have a proven record of being reliable for ten years. However if there is still a tendency to explode, burn, melt such battery vaults should be made stronger(and maybe more tamper proof). Is it such a slow news cycle that any exploding Li battery news again?

    They don't require a fingerprint on an absentee ballot, so vote stealers would rather use this method. Notice how skewed absentee ballots are to the regular population. Thus even with a paper trail, unless they go thru absentee ballots and uncover who voted for what, you will never be sure the election wasn't stolen....

    If a corn farmer needs to use say 200 gallons of gas to produce 200 gallons of ethanol, you might figure it is a no net gain enterprise. Whatever carbon dioxide used to make ethanol is canceled out by the same amount of carbon dioxide gas made buring gasoline. However with more experience and practice the equation may be changed with efficiency and pipelines added to reduce costs and buring of gasoline.

    Uniquely in California the mash leftover, after making ethanol, the wet mass is fed to the cows eliminating some of the waste products of producing ethanol.

    As more cellulose is converted into ethanol, more of the cellulose waste is disposed. California is hoping their process will eliminate the ricestalk waste left over from rice producing. Inefficient though the early processes may be, with practice they hopefully will become more efficient and not need subsidies. Not all processes will be an economic winner or an ecological achievement but unless tested who knows if they could possibly become a wining process?

    Biased American astronomers prefer to claim Pluto as a planet(since it was an American discovery). Lazy students prefer to remember less names. Slash dot prefers to keep putting salt in The Wounds of those astronomers who preferred to keep Pluto as a planet.

    Using cruciferous catkin bearing plants in a pot they make several claims:
    1) Siblings tend to not compete as strongly as similar non-related but same species.
    Comment:How non-related? From plants from a different sand dune area? Or plants nearby but evidently not related? How did they decide that the plants are competing less against non- siblings?
    2)"but they're accommodating when potted with their siblings." How did they determine that the plants were accommodating? Did it mean that most of the plants in the same pot were all sturdy and strong?
    So as several controls they have plant family A all in one pot, family B All in one pot and in the third pot a mixture of both family A and B together.

    credits. They got off their butts and have introduced carbon reducing measures in other countries, thus they have a head start in buying carbon credits (the alternative to reducing CO2 emissions). Will there be penalties in not making the Kyoto Protcol? Well Japanese industries have the forsight to avoid those penalties in which may bite big business in the United States in the end.

    I will use public transportation (and stick to schedules and plan ahead).
    I will recycle and carry it out on foot to the recycle center (and be barely rewarded for my efforts but get exercise dividends).
    I will not drive or own a car (may get a ticket for occassional driving adventures, but save big on insurance and less gas usage)
    I can nag environmental hogs and not fear them chasing after me or writing down my license plate of any mythical car I might own.
