  1. Re:More damning news on PS3 Controller Flimsy, Wii Controller Fun · · Score: 1

Moving forward and left produces positive motion on the Y axis and negative motion on the X axis, and without other interaction, your orientation stays the same.

    Adding yaw changes your orientation.

If I spin out at 0,0 and go straight to 1,1, while still spinning the steering wheel like mad, I'll be yawing like crazy yet my up/down, left/right movement is a straight line. I could be turned around, facing left, any direction on the X-Y axis.

Now, if, at the end, I was facing forward AND up instead of just forward, I've changed pitch. If I was facing forward but on my side, I've rolled.

I guess you're thinking of something like GTA or some other top down game where moving left and right is an implied yaw and your orientation changes automatically... That's not proper geometry.

If you're children are 12+, supposedly know right from wrong, but still think posting defamatory material about someone is "right", then you should seriously question your parenting skills and, if you ask me, should thusly be held liable for your childrens' actions.

Speaking from personal experience, I had some friends around that age and we'd just do crazy shit. It's not that our parents were bad, but it's an age where you're still immature and 'fun' often trumps 'consequence'. Either it's being rebellious or just being stupid (in my case, usually the latter...), it wasn't stuff our parents should've been held accountable for. It was *my* decision, it's *my* fault, and *I* should have known better.

Life is learning from your mistakes, to find yourself, and even good parents have to let their kids make mistakes and let them have time to themselves unsupervised. It's the only way they'll make it on their own. In this day in age, I find it highly unlikely 100% of kids are going to be perfect angels.

The problem here is we don't know what transpired between Bock and Scheff to cause the rift. Obviously if it was intentional defamation, that's one thing, but one has to hear both sides of the story to draw a conclusion. Scheff seemed to take advantage of the situation.

What gets me is this part:
Court papers that Scheff and her attorney David H. Pollack mailed to Bock were returned to Pollack's office in Miami.

They made no followup attempt? One would imagine that someone decent would continue trying to serve the papers so they're aware of the case. Obviously the reporters had no problem finding her...

True, they end up getting stifled by the economic powers-that-be, but if you're going to be mad at anyone, it's really not Congress, but the Wal-Marts, the Best Buys, the EB Games that, by policy, won't sell stuff in the AO category.

This has happened only twice before, once with the Windows Meta File (back at the start of the year, http://www.informationweek.com/windows/showArticle .jhtml?articleID=175802202 ), which seemed to be under duress, and second with the DRM patch.
