Yes, they are going to get "thrown in jail" for having a result of a website that someone deems "fake". So are they going to not have any of the major media outlets on their sites also? Because I see PLENTY of fake, native ad stories on the mainstream sources all the time. You can spot them when they are fluff pieces that mention specific brand names for no reason. By the way, this isn't Canada and comparing the two is no even reliant. Canada still kisses the ass of a monarchy thousands of miles across a sea.

Also if you RTFA the stipulation for the $1 million is that you are a Nobel Prize winner. Other thing that stood out in the article was this Li made that announcement at a "state sponsored speech" which translates to propaganda last time I checked.

  3. "the influential entrepreneur said in a recent keynote speech at a state-sponsored conference"

"State-sponsored conference" says it all about what Li's speecg really is. It's propaganda sent out by the Chinese government in an attempt to attack whatever plans the incoming administration might have. Funny that the clip here on slash dot doesn't have the stipulation for getting the $1 million dollar bonus. It's open it Nobel Prize winners, which could make considerably more in the Valley through awards, grants, salary, etc. But hey, good luck in China if that's where you think you'd like to live.

  4. I think you mean mass produced, candy bar chocolate, which is available in the US AND Europe. A lot of the times it's not even real chocolate but what is called confectionary coating which is a cheaper, easier to work with substitute. Tempering real chocolate to make it look right and not have a milky haze is almost an art. Temps and humidity have to be in a range to control how it hardens to get a nice shine to the chocolate. With confectionary coating it isn't as particular, which is why A LOT of the big manufacturers use it because it's easy to control. That's also why a lot of the, for lack of a better term, hobbyists use it to make chocolate molds around the holidays. With real chocolate if you are using a double boiler to melt it, you have to be on top of it to get the end product to look good. That's why chocolatiers use temping machines that constantly stirs the melted chocolate and holds it at a certain temp. With all that said, confectionary coating is sweeter and waxy, and to me, disgusting but easy to work with. There is PLENTY of fine chocolates available in the US, you just have to know where and what to get. Hell, even big chain supermarkets sometimes have some decent US and European chocolates. Even at that, If I am looking at European chocolate I am looking for Belgian or German chocolates. Chocolates from other countries

  5. Re:It helps the economy too on EPA Increases Amount of Renewable Fuel To Be Blended Into Gasoline (arstechnica.com) · · Score: 1

Actually there have been numerous studies that have shown damage to valves and valve seats as a result of running ethanol blended fuels, even in vehicles that are supposedly designed to run ethanol E85. When this damage happened it increased the emissions the vehicles put out so any benefit from running straight ethanol or even a blend is totally shot when you consider this and it being 30% less fuel efficient.

Most small engines (weed whip, lawn mowers, leaf blower, outboard motors) have breakdown issue with cheap fuel lines that manufacturers use. These eventually deteriorate totally or enough to block fuel filters and carburetors. What do most do when that happens? Throw it out and get new ones, which adds to waste and again nullifies any benefit gained from the ethanol.

Auto manufacturers actually warned against using gas with ethanol blended in it for car built before 2001, saying it would void warranties, although when they said that most all those vehicles were already out of warranty.

Ethanol also increases the likeliness of water getting in to gas because alcohol can hold more water. With changing conditions it can cause too much water to be held in the alcohol which will cause it to drop out of suspension and turn in to a gooey mess that with glob up fuel systems and cause an engine to cease running.

Bio diesel I think is great, but ethanol, with all it's issues and government subsidies to produce is just an epic failure all the way around.

  9. Sure if you listen to one source and have blinders on, you'd come to that conclusion. But hey, why learn anything from the last year of how the media bias and bullshit was brought to light. No, lets all crawl back in to the bullshit bubble and think the national media has your best interests at heart. Lemmings come to mind, lambs led to slaughter? Heck, realizing something is bullshit might hurt your ego, and who wants that? Nah, let's protect you from that big scary world and say fuck society as a whole!

  10. Odd that we have the so call "tech community" on here but they didn't bother to get the full transcript before going off half cocked about what a journalist interpreted as meaning something other than those with the 5th grade reading comprehension would think it means. After reading the full transcript I find it odd that someone would say he was backing down on his stance. Seems more like the liberal agenda of dividing Trump and those that voted for him. Does every ones recall of history go back 1 week now? This is the same NYTimes that was colluding with Clinton's campaign to give her good press and Trump bad press. So are well all suppose to ignore how they were exposed now???

  11. Isn't this a diluted market already that people don't really want to pay for? I had XM/SIRUS for years and with in the last two gave up on it because I just have too many other options and content to listen to. But really, what "asshat conservatives" have been talking about "fake news"? I have only been hearing liberal democrats going on how it's such a problem. Hell, the president was the one that I clearly recall asking for a stop to "fake news".

So what do you think would have happened to all the stories on the wikileak's email bonanza then? You think that wouldn't be labeled "fake news"? Please excuse me if I can't be as naive as that. If you want to be in a news shelter where you hear only what you want to hear, feel free, but don't think people that actually want to know what's going on in the world feel the same way. We will take the good with the bad.

  17. So what's with all this worry now about "fake news"? Is that supposed to make me think that the mainstream garbage is all real? There is more bullshit and native ads on local, nightly, and 24 hour news then ever, but we are concerned about what someone deems "fake news"? The "fake news" could be substituted for "news we deem fake". The "we" being whoever wants to claim it is with out really having to prove so. It's the DMCA come to the news cycle. This leads to controlled propaganda news that has less truth to it than what we have now. I laugh like hell when President Obama puts in to a speech that we need to do something about "fake news" yet the Smith Mundt act (google it!) was repelled while he was in office. That's what's even more funny, that since Trump won the election the news channels and the democrats have carried on about a vast array of "thing we need to change" like they are actually going to do something and we are supposed to ignore the last 8 years. I am not for one party or the other, but what they are doing is like a husband getting caught cheating and continuing to tell his wife how their marriage should mean something. It's like a criminal telling a judge that they should do something with the system after they got caught.

Context and who actually made the comment never get mentioned. David Horowitz, who is of Jewish decent, wrote a op ed for Breitbart on how Bill Kristol did a 180 on support of the republican and ended up backing Hilary for president even though Hilary and President Obama supported the Muslim Brotherhood which is VERY anti-Semitic, wanting to rid the earth of jews and destroy Israel.
