wonder how many current (global/giant/energy) firms will be trying (very VERY hard) to clobber this... starting with large advertising campaigns aka "this will not work blah blah blah"! I have got solar power on my roof and I hear a lot of people saying "not efficient enough"... well bugger them, at the current rate I will have paid this off in 5 years time and from then onwards...
Microsoft, Adobe etc are all guilty of this, they create applications, they add some useful and lots of not so useful stuff, they turn on all features by default and then system administrator run around like mad to fix security holes, disable features, explain to users that that "oh so good feature" is bad, patch, update instead of doing work that would make some dollars.
I never understood how and why there is an energy star label on a computer..... when you shut it down (and do not turn off the power at the powerpoint) it still uses power?
This is not a flamebait, but a serious question. I have a Xperia and I can connect my desktop/laptop without any additional application straight to my mobile (linux or windows) using bluetooth/wifi/usb. Why would I write a story "oh I can connect my laptop to my phone"??? I have been able to do this for a while using Fedora/Centos/ubuntu/xp/2000 with my current and previous phone.
It is wrong to have pillars that close to the track and Stephen Plate shows this to the rest of the world. Period! No discussion! It is absolute stupid the way the track was designed and that is the flaw. The guy would not have died if its was not for the pillars. You could compare that to have trees around a racing circuit directly beside the track and no run off area... Bugger off IOC and let the rest of the world see what is wrong so it can be prevented next time.
While I get the idea of reading books on my laptop (and I have plenty of them on it) I do not get why I need another device? Why not simply flipping the screen 90 degrees on my laptop (which I do) or doing the same on my workstation (with a swivel screen)?
This shouldn't have been on/.! Scammers have been tricking people since 1000's of years always trying to "stay ahead" of what people have learned... the same applies to anything in this world including virus/worm/trojan checkers, any other spam/email/whatever. There are many sales people who will sell you something you don't need and most of people who bought the stuff walk away "happy" not realizing the where scammed "legitimately"... Any of us need to learn/see when we are getting scammed... always.
I always wondered why your lawyers never put the point up "but then AuDA needs to take more domains/websites offline as there are so many websites that claim they have got something to do with the domain name but when you look closer they have not. I get frustrated when Google searches return results that have got nothing to do with what I am searching for and is biased by "incorrect" domain names.
its been in (nearly all) other OS's for years.
Its number forty ... even ./ knows this isn't the case and and deals with it appropriately and assigns "Anonymous Coward".

What gets me the most with all of this is that people STILL calling it an "oil spill", WTF?

Perl had a 5 in front .. in fact since 1994 I think.
... ALL players ... and it will teach them a lesson.
All this means that the computer the guy was working on had a key logger Trojan installed.
Now if the guy is working in the department that creates code for office or the Win7 that would be a worry ;-)

slashdot would look kinda strange, wouldn't it?
how can we get a paperless office if even on slashdot people want to print ;-)

Chuck Norris doesn't do push ups. He pushes the planet down.
Wrong! Let me explain this with the theory of relativity ... it depends entirely on the position of the viewer ... so your are wrong!
Chuck Norris in fact is pushing the planet UP, so in fact he does do push ups.
