Yes but THIS is THE reason linux is not ready for the desktop. Either one distro will have to rule them all with software developed specifically for that distro or applications are going to have to start compiling themselves more easily and snagging any information they need from the system on their own, without user input. Its amazing how much simpler it is to install an application when you don't have to look up all this obscure variables about your system.

Does that mean we can sue telemarketers? The last couple of years I've found them to be far more annoying than spammers. Spam is more easily blocked and can be taken care of on my time. Telemarketers though, I have to choose between getting up during dinner / sleeping to answer the phone or dealing with the damn thing ringing every 5 minutes.

I'm still glad to see some spammers in jail though. I hope they all rot in prison then in hell.

Not worried at all. The gamecube has nice graphics IMO. Also I'd imagine the GPU, while still a low clock speed, as you said isn't everything. If this newer GPU has twice the pipelines and twice the clock speed of the old one that would make it at least 4x faster than the previous.

You have to keep in mind that the hardware on the PS3 and 360 are massive overkill for the time being. I'd imagine most release games will use at best half of their potential resources.

All it really means is that programs for the Wii will have to be optimized, well all know that is a part of programming though, and by association, their jobs.

Sure there is such a thing as too much swap. My main rig has 2GB of ram, I've never run out. I routinely use anywhere from 250-500MB of swap. This absolutely should not be. There is no reason to swap when I am nowhere near running out of an order of magnitude faster physical RAM. The best solution, disabling swap isn't even an option as many programs require it.

In the software world you would be able to sue someone else just because the outcome is the same even if the implementation is comletely different. This is one reason software patents shouldn't exist. Someone could write a program in VB and patent it.. then someone could come and write a similar program in Java that has a completely different implementation and get sued.
