They took existing inventions and appended the words "on a mobile device". That's the extent of their patenting... whether it's multi-touch or even their magsafe connector (which already existed on deep fryers).
If spanking is legal (and apparently it legal is in most states -- making it very likely that spanking USED to be considered a common way to discipline ones kid), there should be a guideline on how to do it. I don't see how ANY spanking video can be released and most people saying "oh ok, that looks fine".
Actually thinking about it.. you may not even have to say "channel" often at all.. "Siri, 100" would work just as well (what else could a number mean.. probably not volume.. since that would be "Siri, Louder" or "Siri, Medium volume" etc.).
It's very easy to make it intuitive. Sometimes you may not even have to say the trigger word.
For one thing.. good luck to google trying to work around all the patents for the AI.
The other thing is once Siri is integrated into TV control it's game over for both Microsoft (with their lame Xbox Kinect voice control) and Google.
The ease of use of controlling a TV with Siri versus what Xbox Kinect has will be light years ahead. You would be able to easily record shows in the background, find interesting shows etc. try doing that with kinect voice control.
That video is from mid 2007 and the reviewer implies that the phone is just released.. also it doesn't prove that they didnt include slide to unlock after seeing it at the iPhone launch in January 2007.
I agree the slide to unlock gesture shouldn't get a patent.. but what you've shown isn't proof.
It doesn't use up the helium though.. once it's filled it's full.
Second.. from Wikipedia "In 1996, the U.S. had proven helium reserves, in such gas well complexes, of about 147 billion standard cubic feet (4.2 billion SCM).[80] At rates of use at that time (72 million SCM per year in the U.S.; see pie chart below) this is enough helium for about 58 years of U.S. use, and less than this (perhaps 80% of the time) at world use rates, although factors in saving and processing impact effective reserve numbers. It is estimated that the resource base for yet-unproven helium in natural gas in the U.S. is 31–53 trillion SCM, about 1000 times the proven reserves."
Even if they are wrong by a factor of ten that still gives us a few centuries of helium left.. by which time hopefully we'd be either creating helium via nuclear fusion power plants or able to bring back abundant quantities from Jupiter.
The GOP's stated policy is that anyone working for the federal government is shit and deserves pay cuts. The GOP thinks that federal government employee salaries are not based on competitive pay. I mean, normally if a job pays a certain amount you will get applicants who would be willing to work for that pay.. and therefore you'd get competitive applicants who are worth that much. If I offered a job that pays 1 million, presumably I'd get applicants who are worth around that.. yes sure along with people worth $10K.. but the point is the fed gov salaries are advertised and people who are working in only slightly less paying jobs looking for an upgrade will switch to it.. meaning if they paid less.. they'll get less qualified/competent applicants.
First, I don't get it.. if you have something like logmein why can't you log in and start Facetime or something like that.. before you do it.. test it with a friend cause you probably wont get many chances.
Anyway.. if that fails, tell him you're a chick? Most likely the thief is male, so you could entice him to do it that way. You have his email address of something? how would you communicate with him?
Btw, rather than hand him over to the cops.. just ask for the laptop back and tell him you're keeping the photos of him. Also, check with law enforcement if you are allowed to take pictures like that.. it may be against the law.. stupid as it sounds.
You have to buy the radio separately. The tires come separate too. They don't even come with seats... you get to choose the seats from a catalog of producers.
Pretty soon you will have to buy all the car parts, engine, transmission, little nuts & bolts, from various suppliers and build it yourself.
It took like 50 years to build the pyramids.. they are a huge achievement not just from an engineering standpoint but a political view. Today, it's basically impossible for any long term project to survive multiple administrations/congresses without some politician cancelling it at the slightest excuse. That's what killed a long of scientific research projects.
Also I want to point out that the actual patent description talks about a second display.. exactly like the comment describes.. furthermore there are other comments where a second display is not mentioned.. but either way the Microsoft patent does in fact talk about a second display underneath the swappable accessory.. they fucking stole the idea in its entirety.
Now, go to http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/26/how-would-you-change-sony-ericssons-xperia-x1/2#comments and do a find in page for the word "bottom" or "pop out"... ok read that description.. now if you scroll up to the top of the article you can see a photo of the Xperia X1 which is being talked about.. notice that a combination of the Xperia X1 and the comment exactly fit the patent of microsoft? If you read the actual patent it becomes even clearer they stole the idea from that engadget comment.
Sorry if this is confusing.. if you disagree let me know.
Have you heard the term tyrosine kinase inhibitor? Well people in cancer research know it. If some major cancer cures come out based on it.. it'll be a household term. Similarly people in the human interfaces business have been using the term multi-touch. Here is an example from 1999:
Do a find in page for the word "bottom" or "slide" or "pop out"
Btw I am sure I made the same comment other places and also with and without the LCD aspect.. however engadget doesnt have an easy way to wade through or search through comments to find the earliest one..

Uh, no .. you would say "Siri, CNN" or "Siri, channel 100" or "Siri, next .. skip ...skip .. cycle through .. ... .. stop"
The advantage is at least 5 years, possibly more.

What did you switch to?
Remember when microsoft reverse engineered AOL's protocol so that their MSN client would interoperate with it?
That pissed off AOL and Microsoft justified it .. and kept working around the fixes AOL would try until finally a judge slapped Microsoft.
http://www.pcworld.com/article/12982/aol_and_microsoft_have_a_spat_over_chat.html
That was about 12 years ago, when AOL was the leader in instant messaging.
Microsoft = unscrupulous crooks, if it was OK for them to do it .. why is it bad if others do it?

Yeah .. I think so, if you do it properly. Many talentless people are making money off autotune, so I reckon you can too.
Did you come up with the idea independently? If so, you still have a chance to patent it under the new crummy patent law.

Also if you are starting facetime make sure u have it recording .. either with software or aiming a camera at the screen

Let me guess, you gave up on mathematics ever since you couldn't figure out the blocks in kindergarten?
It must suck to buy a car in Europe.

You know how it pre-fetches webpages? .. doing so, it may inadvertently pre-click on "purchase" links.
Let it be known I was the first to point this out.
Uh, no ..not at all .. they even get to break SSL .. a proxy server doesn't get to look at https traffic.

Can you prove that you did that?
Here is an example ok ... Microsoft recently got this patent:

According to the article, apparently they make up for that by charging extra if you want to run Oracle database on an x86 CPU.
