OK now this is dumb. The AC's post (he was obviously going for "funny") is only flamebait if athiesm itself is a religion calling for holy war against all Jews, Christians, Muslims, Bhuddists, Hindus, and other nonbelievers; er, I mean, well you know what I mean.
If mention of religion offends your athiestic sensibilities your faith in the nonexistance of God must be weak indeed. If you can't stand someone making fun of your religion then your faith in God must be equally weak.
If Mr. Coward were to have said "God" instead of "the Bible" I would have to agree with him and if you want to know why, I wrote two articles several years ago at K5 explaining where my spiritual beliefs come from. Gecko Poker is about some strange wierdness I witnessed while in Thailand when I was in the USAF ("The bhuddist priests do things that make Kwai Chaing Cane look like a clumsy dork."), and Death about the time I died an an auto accident.
You can choose to believe that elephants exist or you can choose to believe that the photos are Gimped, but once you see an elephant nobody is going to convince you that there are no such things.
The article itself is flamebait if you ask me. I can understand completely why the parent poster chose to remain anonymous in this nest of athiests who whistle past the graveyard.
As I said in Bloody Sunday, thank God for the athiests!
They didn't make the once great (before MS) Foxpro either but they managed to FUBAR it pretty well, along with a host of other technologies they bought.
I had a MS mouse once but it wasn't any better or worse than any other mouse. I've got a logitech cordless laser mouse now, and I love the mouse but I won't be buying anything Logitech again; I wish I could find the rant I wrote about them (it's on the internet somewhere, either at my site or K5) but they don't have Linux drivers for the cordless mouse or keyboard; all they support is Windows.
They work in Linux, except for the nonstancdard extras, like the media player buttons on the keyboard and the back/forward buttons on the mouse (it has a lot of buttons).
A new weapon of intergalactic war has been found. A jet of hot gas and high-energy particles is shooting out from the core of a galaxy called 3C321 and hitting a neighbour, a new study reveals.
Galaxies have been known to ram into each other, but this is the first known example of attack by particle beam.
The pre-iphone hysteria was touting the iphone as being the device that would liberate US consumers from the shackles of the telcos
At six hundred dollars a pop, which shows you how far up rich people have their heads up their asses. Damned few people can afford to blow six hundred bucks on a goddamned TELEPHONE.
"Hello? Mary? Guess what? I just spent SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS on a PHONE!
"Huh? No I can't take you out, I'm broke, didn't you hear me? I just spent SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS ON A PHONE!"
Like I said in my journals, I need low friends in high places but all I have is high friends in low places. And 90% of Americans are just like me.
Me too. I mean, there's Sony, the RIAA, the MPAA, SCO, that goober lawyer Whatsisface in Florida that hates video games, the public school system, jocks, all sorts of people and things to hate.
Come on slashdot enough of the MS bashing! Lets bash Sony, they're even more evil!
Happy with thirty plus days of uptime? Unless you're referring to female problems instead of computing, that's really sad. Especially coming from a Linux/Solaris admin!
Vista is not horrible. Is is great? Not really. But it works and it works pretty well.
And you would pay $500 for "not horrible but not great, but it works" that nobody seems to be able to come up with anything that makes it worth the price? Where do you work, I'm obviously not making near enough money.
It is a bit overly secure (but that is because of install base that makes Microsoft OS worth attacking; Apple is expected to be targeted within the next 2 years due to increasing popularity)
I heard that about Apple ten years ago, son. If writing viruses for Mac and Linux were as easy as it is for Windows, both OSes would be NEARLY as virus-ridden as MS ("nearly" because of Windows "popularity". Which is a funny word in the context. Something popular that everyone hates).
Indeed. Apparently the GP never saw "The Search For Spock". As Scotty said in that fine film, "the more complicated the plumbing is, the easier it is to stop up the drain".
I dislike Microsoft as much as the next slash-dotter
I'm the next slashdotter and no you don't or you would never have bought an xbox in the first place. Microsoft is the king of slow, bloated, badly designed, buggy, overpriced software and I see no reason, other than user testimonials, why the hardware wouldn't be slow, bloated, badly designed, buggy, and overpriced as well, save for user testamonials. And you'll find slashdot posts that say Vista is a good OS (I wouldn't know, I'm using XP and Mandriva)
Now researchers are poised to cross a dramatic barrier: the creation of life forms driven by completely artificial DNA.
Somebody needs to kick these reporters in their crystal balls. Wake me up when they stop poising and start crossing, ok? The future is now. The future is bunk.
Washington Post story about the immanence of completely artificial life:
Was "immanence" a typo; a misspelling of "imminence" as the context of the summary seems to imply, or did the submitter really mean
remaining within; indwelling; inherent.
Philosophy. (of a mental act) taking place within the mind of the subject and having no effect outside of it. Compare transeunt.
Theology. (of the Deity) indwelling the universe, time, etc. Compare transcendent (def. 3).
This won't stop until we vote their shills out of office
There are a few impediments to that happening.
They are a world wide multinational corporation. Even if we were to get their shills out of USSA politics, it wouldn't affect anyone else.
When they "donate" ten million to the Republican and another ten million to the Democrat, it doesn't matter which Republicrat loses, Sony wins.
As long as the corporations control the media, the media will continue to convince everyone that if you vote for any candidate that is not a Republicrat you're wasting your vote.
reveals that even the most charitable interpretation of Sony BMG's internal strategizing demonstrates a failure to adequately value security and privacy
Greed indeed. They value security and privacy, they just don't valiue yours. If I rooted their compters with a trojan like they did to me when my daughter ran the software on a music CD she PURCHASED, ironically from th estore she worked at, my old ass would be sitting in a cell right now.
Nobody has ever adequately explained to me how Sony execs stayed out of prison and weren't even charged with a crime. Until they do I'll be forced to believe that it's because of one of "mcgrew's lasw": No rich and powerful man ever goes to prison unless a richer more powerful man wants him there.
Come on, man, you're literate. Don't make me sic Bob on you!
A little more on topic - Xbox 360s are made by Microsoft. Microsoft has never ever worked or played well with others. Why is anybody surprised that any MS device would hog bandwidth?
The question should be, why does the FCC let them get away with it? Is it because of incompetent FCC people, coprrupt FCC people, or some other reason?

Actually there are places where gravity doesn't exist. A comedy club, for example.
I agree completely. Maybe I've got 'em trained.

Apparently the fellow is not a fan of the art establishment.
The only impediment is YOU
No, it's the other 299,398,483 people. I split my vote between the Greens and the Libertarians.
Only when YOU vote for a democrat or a republican. They cannot win without your vote.
Then why do they continue winning? As I said, I split vote between the Greens and Libertarians.
Everyone?
Statistically speaking, yes.
I submitted this yesterday afternoon, I guess butterwise beat me to it. My link was to New Scientist Galaxy fires powerful particle beam at neighbour" -mcgrew

Linda? Is that you? You have an internet connection at Dwight?
Office is 10x worse
Puke's not bad tasting. Shit is 10x worse.

I like Vista too. You know why? Because I don't have to use it!
Listen kids, iMnot going to warn you again.
And I only have a detailed, working reproduction of a 15th century torture chamber, complete with drain in the middle of the floor.
Torture? Ha! I've been married!!!
