Not everyone lives in a forest or near a forest. Having a choice between getting smoked on the street and using the stationary bike at the gym I'll choose the stationary bike.
You're not allowed to have service. It doesn't say its illegal for you to use a computer. 1) Get the service in someone else's name 2) I didn't read it, but can you switch ISPs? 3) go to an internet cafe 4) use the school library 5) piggy back on someone's wifi 6) use a coffee shop's wifi 7) move the fuck out of france
The only way to deal with the problem would violate too many laws. The US is too corrupt at that level and there are too many people in the country who are too goddamn clueless to make any meaningful change since in eyes of the law on election day and other things the clueless idiot's opinion carries as much weight as the education person's. Through political activism, etc you might make some advances, but probably not before you and are I long in the ground.

Its interesting that you chose a word considered probably the most vulgar in the english language to describe one group, yet chose a nice neutral nationality to describe another group instead of a slang term. Can't figure out just how racist you want to be today?
I solved that problem in Big town by meta gaming. I ran out side of the town and intercepted the super mutants and took them down before they could get close to the town and hurl grenades. Otherwise people were getting smoked and at least 2 or 3 npcs were dying.
so I don't have to go find a fucking CD every time I want to play the game
What exactly is it that most of you do with your CDs? Do you buy a game and put the disc in a cannon and fire it indiscriminately out your back window? I open the box and put the CDs in the nice holder right beside my machine. This is probably the lamest excuse I've ever heard.
I only crashed around the time I was leaving vault 101..4 times..after looking at the crash info I found out it was the audio codec from my digital video camera software causing the problem. I had the same problem with oblivion and forgot about it. I renamed the audio codec problem and now I've played another 7 hours without a single crash. individual experiences and anecdotal evidence do not make blanket statements.
I don't pay X amount of money for an engine in the hopes someone else is going to get around to making it a fun game. it was the first elder scrolls game I bought (didn't play the first two, played morrowwind a bit), and its going to be the last. I actually did complete it, but it was nothing more than a shiny turd. No reviewer had the spine to give it what it was worth (a 60%, I give it a bump from 50% because of the graphics, but the gameplay was pure mediocrity) and the fan boys were too busy going "OMG LOOK AT HOW FAR AWAY WE CAN SEE GRASS!!!" I'll be starting Fallout 3 today and I am expecting more of the same. Actually my expectations couldn't be lower, so there is a chance they may exceed them.
are sitters really that expensive now? That requirement in the question just seemed a little out of place... this person said they'd pay for a feed but not a sitter... any feed access you're going to get would probably be for a minimum of a month on whatever service and probably cost the same as or more than a sitter.
Who said anything about a loss leader? You can't make up a loss leader in volume. I said that its likely that each party is paid a percentage. I have no idea what that percentage is, but its extremely unlikely that the cost of storage for a 44 mb file and the cost to transmit it would be more than their share of $3. If it is there is no way they're making any profit on storing and transmitting a 500 MB file for twice as much at $6. Fallout is well known, its really close to being their flagship game right now, so making it an impulse buy at $3 makes no sense. Battle chess is small, older and a much simpler game. There is no way you could say with a straight face that they're worth the same.
I'm not anymore, but the rate is far different from when I left 4.5 months ago when we were sitting at par. I hadn't been paying much attention to it at all until I went to make a web purchase recently and found out that the exchange was vastly different on my credit cards now. But that does bring paying for Battle chess to almost $8, which is far and above what a 20ish year old game is worth.
Yes, but with some $3 games you might be more inclined to buy a $3 game and a $6 game. than just 1 $6 game. There is nothing wrong with targeting various price points and frankly you'd have a hard time trying to convince me that fallout and battle chess have the same value as far as a video game go.
its a 44 mb file.. storage is trivial, bandwidth is trivial on that. The other more recent games (games as recent as 2004 and actually worth $10). I imagine that the publisher/developer takes a percentage and not a fixed fee per game. You make it up in volume that is how business works. You don't make the same profit on every single item in your store. Some items you sell few of but are high margin, other items are low margin but you move in high volume. At $3 battle chess is an impulse buy with some other game, at $6 I'm going to take fall out before I take battle chess.
The price is a bit on the high side for some of the old games. Battle chess for $6? Now that the canadian dollar has tanked again, that's closer to $20.
I might be a little more interested in buying some of the really old games for something more in the neighbourhood of $3.
You can get a sale on steam sometimes for some new indie games around $6-$8.
You know I think Americans should really blog about this, or perhaps start an online petition.. They're going to be in chains before they wake up and realize what is going on..
Its amazing what the general public seems to be able to accept there.
I believe the install time on a fresh copy of The Sims 2 with all expansion packs, stuff packs, and free items (just official not fan made) is in the neighbourhood of around 5 hours. They desperately need to come out with some "TS2 Complete" DVD (or set of DVDs that are part of a single install) to streamline this process. I'd also encourage them to allow anyone who has actually bought all of them to send them all their DVDs for a free copy.

you want to peddle from Hongkong to England be my guest...
Yes, my laptop backpack has a slot to hold about 8 CDs. How many different games do you want to play on your vacation/on the way to work?
I walked in to my grandmother's house yesterday and tripped over 3 of them. Get with the times.
Please...the american media reminds the people every day what they should be afraid of. Which is everything. Including the air and the media.

You're right. I know in Korea when they try to do these kinds of individual purchases for games its failed horribly...
