IAR is garbage. The only time people try to invoke it is when they're trying to win a debate and can't. They can't make their case so they turn around and start linking IAR in every response.
Given the context in which her address was posted online I don't think there could be any misconception about why it was posted online. It was done only to encourage mob justice, this is hardly well-intentioned.
The tribal wisdom of the South Barrington trailer part, pass on from one generation to the next, says that when you discover your el camino is stuck in mud up to your arse, the best strategy is to get out and wait for it to dry. But in modern business (and education and government), because heavy investment factors are taken into consideration, other strategies are often tried with stuck cars, including the following:
1. Flooring it until you're out of gas. 2. Doubling the weight of the vehicle by getting your 3 closest friends to sit on it. 3. Planting some flowers in the back, sending out a press release about the cars impending "growth" and putting an "as-is" for sale sign on it.
The problem is you might expect after that 30 days for sales to absolutely plummet. Like homer simpson trying to sell his pumpkin futures on November 1st. It seems like the window of making money for this app is extremely narrow, and without good marketing (which also costs money) it might not have any long term future as the hook is just too short term.
You can cherry pick quotes all day long and they could do the same, and everyone will insist they are right. But I can see problems even with the quotes you chose: "Only he who does the will of my father..." everyone believes they're doing his will when they act. They probably have a verse to back up their actions for their hate, genocide, etc, so as far as they're concerned its his will and they're carrying it out.
Interpretation is an incredible thing. You can interpret it one way, they're going to interpret it another way, and I'm going to base my judgment on what I see. What I've seen is something full of violence and hypocrisy for centuries and no one really doing anything about it.
Why can't we have an intelligent discussion instead of going for the throat every post?
Because when such ludicrous statements are made, it deserves no less of a response.
For a religion that practices peace, it does little to enforce it. There also seems to be a high number of people who rise to positions of powers in it over the years that by your claim aren't really christian. They can often quote all kinds of bible versus to back up what they do, so it would seem the bible being a thing of peace is a matter of interpretation. The bible encourages people to go out and spread the word of god and frankly its full of violence, especially the old testament. When you have something like revelations in there, how can you expect devout worshipers to not lose their shit when they think about a family member, close friend, loved one, etc not getting in to heaven if they don't believe?
Christianity is a religion of hypocrisy. Were it truly a religion of peace, they would cast out anyone who committed a violent act in the name of Christianity, but they often don't. Instead they may condemn it, but don't really do anything so they don't technically have to get their hands dirty and it wasn't "Christianity" that did it. Were it a religion of peace, hundreds and thousands of churches wouldn't preach hate against homosexuals and other groups.
Somewhere in texas is a DL320 server from HP that has some blood in it, because HP felt the need to ship a server which was ordered with a hard drive, CD rom and ram in 4 boxes with ''some'' assembly required...buggers are small inside and have lots of sharp edges.
What about this? Instead of failing on a failed photo captcha, why not just report a success but dump the registration?
You might get a few false positives but if someone signing up for my site can't tell the difference between a kitten and an elephant, I probably don't want them using it...
The bots would have no genuine way of figure out if the attempt they made was successful unless it kept the data and later compared it with a login. As well when the images are generated you could generate them with a tiny bit of random noise and alter the file size/signature to make comparing different images impossible.
Blaming teacher unions for unsatisfactory results is a kneejerk response.
Unions make it near impossible to fire a teacher who does anything inappropriate short of running down the halls naked and pressing his(or her) genitals against the classroom windows. Even then, they'd probably demand 3 warnings from a single institution.
Case in point there was (and still is) a teacher's assistant in a district I used to work in and my parents still work in. She basically came to work drunk everyday for the last several years but because of her seniority and her penchant for moving from school to school if someone caught on, the union rules made it impossible for the district to fire her.
Unions may have a useful purpose, but the power they have to protect sub-par workers is a detriment to any business, especially education where it can have such a larger impact on other people.
You can sue them for improper search if their "reasonable suspicions" are garbage reasons. More importantly if employees are using it for a power trip they can be held accountable for it. The US does have such a thing as various kinds of damages in a civil court. Things like the inconvenience of being without a work laptop, etc.
Enough garbage reasons start turning up and people can't deny it. You can't get rid of anything in today's world without a paper trail.
Its easy enough for the agency behind it to claim the person whose laptop was taken misunderstood the reason. They can't do that if the guard is just making stuff up and writing it on an official form.
If they take a laptop to search it for 24 hours they should first detail their "reasonable suspicion" on a form to which the person's whose laptop is being taken receives a copy to chat with their lawyer about.
you make a lot of assumptions. None of them remotely right. Oblivion wasn't that widely praised among many of the forums, including their own. Reviewers are fairly meaningless as that Kane and Lynch bit with gamespot showed us. However people constantly derided its gameplay choices (auto-leveling of enemies being the chief one). I called the graphics shiny because they took the time to focus on graphics rather than good gameplay. It is called a video GAME remember? Not a movie or TV show. An open world isn't that special if its a boring place.
As for recent games I've had more fun playing and played more than Oblivion. Temple of Elemental Evil is an extremely accurate interpretation of the D&D rules for a modern Video game. The critics were a little hard on it, but fan mods restored all the content Atari forced Troika to rip out at the last minute (some areas, quests, children, etc), really improving the game. The graphics were also quite nice.
Two worlds, while a mess in the beginning was patched many times to fix it. I only first played it after their 1.6 patch which fixed all the major issues. I played it through twice which is more than I can say for oblivion (I finished it once) and it is an open world as well. The graphics are not quite 'oblivion bloom' but they're very nice (the people look a heck of a lot better) and the gameplay is also nice. It features real horse combat, and an interesting inventory system. Melee combat seemed better than Oblivion. Quests were interesting, though the voice acting was pretty terrible. The second time through I could skip most of it as I already knew what they were going to say.
I'm not much of a fan of JRPGs, I've only played a couple I liked. FF7 and Phantasy Star IV. The rest never did anything for me. Don't confuse nostalgia with wanting to play games that aren't boring with bad controls and bad gameplay choices.
Why limit it to the last 3 years? Simply saying that makes it obvious that you're aware the gameplay sucked and it was nothing more than shiny mediocrity.
I'm not waiting. I fully expect Bethesda to let everyone down. I might be surprised, but after the shiny borefest of Oblivion I'm not holding out hope.
In Canada if you don't have a driver's license you can get an ID card from the government. Its just to verify your date of birth and who you are for all those kinds of things. Costs around $20 I think.
Determined teenagers are able to get through most things because they have the skill to be able to google something and interpret what they're reading. A 7-10 or maybe even up to 12, not that much.
A 7 year old isn't going to get around white-listing.
Yes because the fines are really big if they're caught serving alcohol to a minor. Its compounded by the fact that our drinking age varies between 18-19 depending on the province, so those at the age can look really young.
They supposedly card for anyone who looks under 25 and women the bartender wants to take home who are over 25.
But the ID is used every where here. Getting a cell, bank account, video rental membership, etc..etc... basically it seems like some companies just look for an excuse to ask for your idea.

You're right. Homosexuals, Abortion doctors, and little altar boys don't live in fear at all...

isn't this discussion getting a tad too manly for slashdot?
The day china gets rid of its 1 child policy you know they're gearing up...
and those 100 wiener dogs just became 500...
I think everyone in the RIAA and MPAA can agree that infinity minus 1 is okay...
Those expansions would also usually come with a couple extra units, and a new race or two. This one has all races built in to all of them.
No, you're paying $50 for an engine and a campaign. Then you're paying $100 for 2 more campaigns.

To Jeffrey Kaplan (aka Tigole), game director for World of Warcraft: Does the pope wear a pointy hat?
