While they may have obtained a bank license the actual financial service they provide is not covered by this. In other words, the PayPal you and I deal with is still not a bank and hence not subject to regular banking laws.
This payment method has zero recourse, if the seller decides to keep the money and not send you the item, you are screwed. I don't see how it gets THAT much more different with PayPal.
1) Buy item on ebay.com.au, pay via PayPal
2) Seller receives payment via PayPal, transfers money to *real* bank account, waits till its there (and secure)
3) Seller either sends empty box or nothing
See? Now instead of having to track that guy down via ebay or some other means you have to interact with PayPal and if there is anything I can say about PayPals customer service - its the worst I've ever had the pleasure to deal with. They already got the listing and transaction fees - why should they care? You'll be happily dealing with automated replies and other crap.
Paypal is still the best form of Payment to use on Ebay since it's all interconnected. Using another method of payment on ebay is generally alot of wasted time since ebay won't work with other processors. What a load of rubbish!
Here (in germany) you can add bank account details to the auction which will be visible for the buyer. He can than do a direct bank transfer via online banking only minutes after buying the item. The actual transfer takes 1-3 days, or if both use the same bank its usually instantaneous. This doesn't cost the buyer nor the seller anything. Its free, fast and much much much more secure than Paypal will ever be. Wait till Paypal decides to freeze your account - then you'll learn what waste of time really means.
The third phase, which will occur by the end of June, will be the posting of the final versions of the documentation along with final patent licensing terms. But how valid will those (patents) be in the EU?
As a result of today's posting, all types of developers -- including independent software vendors, open source developers and developers in customer IT departments -- will have consistent, open access to this protocol documentation (...)
In addition, Microsoft will publish a list of the protocols that are covered by patents and will make available a list of the specific Microsoft patents and patent applications that cover each protocol. However, open source developers, whether commercial or noncommercial, will not need a patent license for the development of implementations of these protocols or for the noncommercial distribution of these implementations In other words if you're going to make any money off it you'll need to pay the MS tax.
Nobody has managed to break this in several years as we're still on the same generation of smart card because Sky were renown for issuing new editions once the old one has been cracked and we've not had new ones for years. They've obviously found a very successful way of safeguarding their service. I think not much people want to crack it (anymore) as the service can be accessed by other means (not cracked but circumvented).
despite the fact that 75% to 80% of PHP users were developing on Windows workstations." But that doesn't necessarily mean that they deploy on Windows does it?
Q. What is WorldWide Telescope? A. The WorldWide Telescope (WWT) is a rich visualization environment that functions as a virtual telescope, bringing together imagery from the best ground- and space telescopes to enable seamless, guided explorations of the universe. WorldWide Telescope, created with Microsoft®'s high-performance Visual Experience Engine(TM), enables seamless panning and zooming across the night sky blending terabytes of images, data, and stories from multiple sources over the Internet into a media-rich, immersive experience. Couldn't find the same about Google Earth (Sky):
Explore the sky with Google Earth
Whether you're an astronomer or stargazer, Sky in Google Earth brings millions of stars and galaxies to your fingertips.
There is no point in criticizing or making fun of this article. Just glance over what they have been doing on port25 and you'll realize that it is filled with crap like this.
The SpikeSource article is a real gem:
One of the key findings was that customers want better open source and Microsoft interoperability, and moreover, they felt this was the issue that the industry has collectively done the least to address. While there has been a lot of unfortunate history that has gotten in the way of this, ultimately customers don't care as much about grudges as they care about everything simply working. Together, SpikeSource and Microsoft's open source lab are doing something about it. Excuse me?!
Apply Kirk's comment about Klingons.. thats all I can say.
Ever since the "green fad" started we've been asked by our admins to turn off the machines over night. No problems.. you just have to wait a minute or so at the morning for it to boot. There is no enforcement of this, so if you need to run something over night you can do so just fine.
As someone said - it may not save real money for the company but it should reduce the 'energy waste'.
It's just nice to buy the phone and go home and activate it. Its a very simple process that is far better than waiting in line at any store. Yes! Since Apple stores NEVER have waiting lines!
I guess I must be living in phantasy land - I buy some phone, insert the SIM and 'it just works'.
I love how Apple has managed to sell the phone at their apple stores, and all you need to do is pick it up, plug it into itunes and fill out a form and you're all setup on at&t very easily. I love how I bought my phone and contract at an O2 shop 4 (!) years ago, simple inserted the SIM and thats it. No need for a PC no need to *activate* or whatever. And that phone wasn't even SIM-locked.
No need to go to some at&t store for anything. Instead you go to an Apple Store - wow:|
If you dont have an apple store, you can order from apple online, have it shipped to your house and you can turn on the at&t service yourself through itunes. Its just a nice way to do things. Replace apple and at&t with O2. Am I missing something?
What is so special having to *activate* a phone with a computer that could work just fine without having to jump through such hoops?
word the marketing department will attach to any product.. it will go away just as the others - remember the days where everything had "Super", "2000", "X", etc. in the name?
German version of Half-life1 wiped the "Programme"-foder (=Program Files) when you uninstalled it. In order to not be a victim of it you had to upgrade to a higher version then uninstall.
They seriously need to stop wasting so much pixels... I agree with the poster somewhere above that why are most of the things by default so gigantic?! The taskbar is way too fat. The new 'start'-menu is horrible. Did anyone there use the iPhone too much or just wanted to annoy people? There is a reason why they do it that way on the iPhone - it has a limited resolution. Having this thin "go back" button is like adding insult to injury.
I also cant understand why the default view of dolphin includes 3 BIG BUTTONS to change the view layout but not one for standard copy/paste/cut stuff.. this is a file browser?
At least this is KDE and not Gnome so all of this can be 'konfigured'. But that will be another 2 hour klick-fest.
http://www.infoworld.com/article/07/05/15/paypal-granted-europe-banking-license_1.html The new license notwithstanding, PayPal has no plans to offer traditional banking services in Europe, but intends to simply take advantage of its new status to become more aggressive in its direct sales operations, she [PayPal spokeswoman] said.

Not to be troll but have you never heard of such a thing called ntfs-3g? What OS is your NAT running?
With a crappy game like 007 Nightfire of course I'd be relieved as well if could take a moment and not have to play this crap.
Who scares?

You can set up the 'account' from home or let the clerk at the shop do it.
iPhone Forcing Open Wireless Networks? No.

AAC is not an Apple format. Its part of ISO MPEG4.
to have confused OLPC with "One License per child".
