You know the push in D.C. is to merge the war on drugs with the war on terror. I guess it is slightly more efficient to conduct one war than many. If we are gonna merge the war on drugs with the war on terror, then we might as well ask Lou Dobbs if we can get the war on the middle class added in and call it the war on American citizens. Or even better, the war on the world because that is where it will end. When American "patriots" control the worlds resources and thus the world.

Well, do we have to have the 13,000 miles/2 all in one place? Or could we have smaller ponds strategically placed around the world with refineries nearby to produce the biofuel from the algae? This would be FAR more practical as it would reduce shipping/transporting of the fuel and only add to the overall goal of carbon neutrality. Unfortunately, this might require governments to actually cooperate with one another and we all know how easy that is.

I do agree that we should be exploring space. I just think there are some really big problems that could be fixed before we try to inhabit another planet. Carl Sagan said it best..... Something to the like of we will not be able to explore space until no one on the planet is hungry. I am sure I just totally screwed up what he said but it was similar to that. I tend to agree with him. I think we all need to work together as a people and until we get past wealth and profit that can never happen. I guess I am commie. Or maybe I watched way too much Star Trek.

It is a common belief that this strategy works well. Look at DirecTV. It is believed that DirecTV knowingly allowed their technology to be compromised for years to create the largest user base they could. Then when they have millions of people using the technology they curtail the signal thieves. At that point a lot of them will just subscribe because they have the setup and are used to it. Certainly very many of them just started doing the same theft with the competitor Dish Network but for the most part they retain or gain a lot of legitimate customers.

It is unfortunate that this same strategy cannot work for Linux.

You might be right about the lawyers but any melody or progression of notes/chords can be transcribed on paper. Therefore it would be not up to a jury's ears but a technical transcription of the notes themselves. I don't know for sure about the law in this case, just going by what I remember. Reprise records for sure paid this guy for knock-offs of Rage Against the Machine songs. Just changed enough to not infringe.

Isn't there a seven note rule? It isn't a copy if you change every seventh note. I have known people to sell songs that are so close to songs from popular artists but they get away with it because of this rule. I think it was decided in court during a infringement case.

I am not referring to long term self medication. When my dog died last week I drank whiskey and beer to help me deal with the loss of my best friend. The amount of alcohol that I drank would have put me in the binge drinking category and would probably have psychologists saying I have an alcohol problem. I don't have an alcohol problem. I agree with you that self medication is rarely if ever the right thing to do because of the risk of fucking up. However I do think that it's funny to have a doctor help you suppress stress and other emotions with a drug from a pharmaceutical company but say it is not ok to do the same thing yourself with alcohol. Put the risk of dependence and abuse aside.

It would be nice for them to have one home page instead of it rotating between 4 or 5 of them so that you could always see the Ubuntu offering. This is definitely a good start though.

I refreshed(ctrl-F5) the screen twice to get to the Ubuntu splash screen. Then clicked the ad. Then clicked shop for Ubuntu. It was VERY easy if you just read the page it takes you to. I would say I was at the list of Ubuntu PC's in under 30 seconds.

This is similar to alcohol injection, and has been going on for a very long time. The main difference is where and when it gets injected but the effect is the same. Cool the combustion chamber so you can run more boost. Works great! Now if we can get the car companies to make small turbo charged motors with ethanol/alcohol injection we will be doing great. You can run a small tank in the engine compartment with alcohol and inject it straight into the intake as boost levels rise. This stops detonation which allows you to have ALOT more power. Generally you run so little alcohol in the mixture that it isn't really flammable. Here is a SMC kit for alochol injection

Additionally I am a consultant so sometimes I need to go from one work location to another in the middle of the day and back quickly. Or if I have to respond after hours or weekends.
