And rightfully so. Homeopathy is kind of like treating someone with the idea of medicine instead of the actual thing. We will dilute this so much that there is nothing left except the fact that there was at one time something there. This is for all intents and purposes treating an ailment with nothing.

I believe what science has proven. Simple as that. However I have to bring this up simply because it pertains to the subject at hand and I do find it interesting. I got a puppy 14 years ago. He had mange, we found this out after we brought him home. We asked the SPCA and they said they had treated him twice for mange and he should be all better. Well he wasn't. We had him treated with the traditional dip again and he did ok for a short time until the mange reappeared. We asked the SPCA again what we should do. They said we cannot keep giving him the dip because it is toxic and will hurt him. So we asked a vet what we should do and they said the same thing. The dog was extremely sick at this point and it was either find a way to treat him or put him down. Well, we decided to try the homeopathic route. We went to a homeopathic vet and began treatment. After about 2 months he began to get better. Actually he was extremely better but still had a few problems so we continued. Over time he bacame 100% better and he lived a long healthy life. He died just a few months ago.

I bring this up because it is interesting. I do not believe that the homeopathic medications helped him and that without the medication his own immune system would have cured him. At the beginning it did not seem that this would happen because he kept getting worse. In fact I have begun to believe that the mange was a reaction to something else that was cured after he left the pound and the toxic dips. I do know that mange is tiny mites.

Anyways make of this what you will. Many people I talk to say that there is a direct correlation between the homeopathy and his healing. I guess I am just a pessimist. --

You are full of shit. I worked for a satellite communication company in 2000 - 2001 and we had home built routers designed by our company and Phillips. We used smart cards for security. I was the unix sys admin on staff and worked with engineering on security. The router ran linux. I bought a smart card reader writer and an unlooper from whiteviper for the very reason of researching the security of our system. We learned a lot about the security of smart cards and the security of our systems. The reason I bought from Whiteviper was because the devices were a quarter the price than any where else. Turns out that DirecTV got a hold of the customer list and thus I was sued for hacking their signal. I didnt have directv or any satellite television. Did not matter. Either pay directv to settle or pay a lawyer to fight. Thousands of dollars either way. Tell me exactly how that is legitimate.

This is true. I do most of the plumbing/electrical around my house. You can get one of those how-to books to show you most of it. The problems start when you are moving from town to town and building codes change. In San Francisco you cannot use PVC vents on the roof but you can in San Mateo County. Little stuff like that can wind up costing a lot of money. I would go to Home Depot or the book store and get a "How to do Electrical Wiring" book. Also, if you start to do wiring and you find knob and tube, call an electrician. That stuff is scary.

I will agree on one point. Today people are making music and musical careers on a computer without playing an instrument. I'll admit that most of the electronic music I hear I think is horrible. What happened to the days that a bunch of guys/girls could get together and play music, on instruments, and really create something. Even if they are emulating their favorite band of the time, it is WAY better to understand the individual components of what makes the music what it is. Understanding the chord progressions, harmonic major and minors, why one would use a diminished 7th in a certain location to conjure a certain feeling in the listener. I think very few musicians today understand these concepts and music is written generally to keep a melody in your head so that you will buy it.

I am a little bitter but I really wish that people would start creating music for themselves instead of for the crowd. If people would forget for a minute what is selling at the moment, and make music that they truly loved the industry would change, and thus we would have better music.

  14. Re:Sucks to be you, Elton on Elton John Says Internet is Destroying Music · · Score: 1

I kind of have to agree. If someone really wants to know who makes really great music, one needs to ask their favorite artist who their influences are. Often times, in many different genres, Elton John is brought up as a primary influence. Elton John is revered as one of the greats. I personally do not really like his music, nor do I listen very often. I have played music for most of my life and it is not hard to see who a lot of mainstream artists influences are. I can fully see the value and genius that goes into a lot of Elton John's music, just not my cup of tea. It will be a great day when people can appreciate music for what it is instead of allowing themselves to be dictated to by the industry what they should think is good. If this could happen then the music industry we know today would be a very different thing.

  16. Re:Big Changes, huh? on Small Electric Car May Usher In Big Changes · · Score: 1

I will generally agree with you but there have been a few American advancements that stand outside of that. Specifically the Buick 3.8 litre engine. These days it is the 3800 V6 and is used in many GM cars. This motor gets good mileage, is very strong for it's size and lasts a long time with proper preventative maintenance. I know of quite a few that are at the 300K and 400K mile marks. Additionally, though I loathe to admit it, some of the Ford trucks are quite good. Granted these are not meant necessarily for fuel conservation, but they perform well for the given job and will last a long time with proper care.

Overall, German and Japanese engineering really exceeds what is being done in the US car market, but some of this can be attributed to planned obsolescence. Think General Motors and 1980's.

I really want to go green and stop using gas all together. I love the idea of not using gas. As soon as someone can offer me a car that does what I currently have for a competitive price I will consider it.

Or is the amount of energy gained from something like this so much more that that is a moot point?
