"The dawn of a new revolution of electronic communications which will render all devices before it obsolete and bring eternal enlightenment to all those who lay their eyes upon its glory."
Actually, that is exactly the new marketing slogan Steve Jobs is rolling out this week...
"Traffic camera's show an amazing result in increasing revenue"
Fixed it for you. The 2 studies I read about traffic cameras said there was zero effect on reducing speeding, but an over 100% increase in speeding fines issued. Luckily where I live in Minneapolis (yes, I live very near the 35W bridge, no wasn't on it when it collapsed), the speed cameras were declared "unconstitutional" because they presumed guilt without definitive proof.
With the law clearly infringing upon an owner's right to perform non-infringing activities with his own property illustrates that the law itself is a bad law.
Wow, sounds just like the draconian non-smoking laws that tell a private business that certain legal activities cannot be done on premise...
Dell hardware != PC platform. Mac hardware = Mac platform.
Besides the motherboard form factor, you can swap out any parts on a Dell system with generic PC parts and it will still work. Have done it a million times myself.
...and yet everyone knows (yourself included) which song he was referring to. The song was originally released as a single, and was only on a compilation album of early Fleetwood Mac stuff. Hell, most people don't even know about Peter Green, or that Fleetwood Mac even existed pre-70s before Rumours came out...
Addresses are easy to find. Getting the letter to the actual CEO's eyes are whats difficult. That's what assistants are for, to filter out any letters like yours, and pass along the ones they deem "fit for the CEO". How many letters a day do you think a CEO receives?? Plenty I'm sure, most of them from nutjobs spouting off. (present company excluded)
Right, and if they just copied them, and didn't fake a theft, no one is the wiser, and no scapegoat is even needed. How would it become known that the data was stolen if a theft never occurs? It's not like it was credit cards and you could prove someone else stole your numbers...
In ALL cases, someone has something to gain. It's not ALWAYS a conspiracy. This was just an example of terrible policy, not a malicious plot. The "gain" in this case could have been achieved through much simpler means. Why go through an elaborate ruse involving multiple people that could blow the whole thing by talking about it? Especially when there is many other different ways the same thing could be accomplished. Let me ask you this - if you were a consultant making $125 an hour, would you risk your job, and freedom, for a few thousand dollars?? Your scenario just doesn't make much sense if you analyze it. If you reject Hanlon's Razor, how about Occam's Razor - "Entities should not be multiplied beyond necessity" or paraphrased - "All things being equal, the simplest solution tends to be the best one."
Why make it so complicated?? They were unencrypted, just make a copy of the damn things, an no one is the wiser. No need to plan a conspiracy dependent on multiple people... Besides, they have been having interns bring the tapes home for years and years, you really think someone 6 years ago planned this all out to stage a fake robbery that far down the road??? You tinfoli hat is on WAAAAYYYY to tight...
Also don't forget Hanlon's Razor - "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity."
And the fact that their information under "Contact us" consists solely of one email account. Same for support, email only (at least they have one additional email here). No phone numbers or address anywhere to be found.
And on this point, does anyone know of any actual court case involving a company suing someone for infringement over the use of emulators and ROMs?? AFAIK, this has not happened yet, but then again, maybe it has and just didn't generate a lot of publicity.
Just curious on your position on jaywalking. Maybe akin to rape??
And yes, I am only joking. I understand the point you are trying to make. But laws that exist to basically punish victimless crimes are stupid. Me using an emulator to play a game from the 80s of which the company doesn't even exist anymore is hardly "stealing" profit away from them. Besides, if I counted up ALL the quarters I spent on said games in my youth, I'm sure it would more than cover the cost of a license.
Like anyone here needs a real excuse....
How much longer will this formula work for them?
3027 A.D.
Sounds more like a Bourne Conspiracy to me...

Everyone welcome Donald Rumsfeld to Slashdot... Hi Rummy!! Why you posting anonymously though?
"This article said nowhere "why OS X blows Windows out of the water" it didn't say "why OS X is better than Windows""
...a discussion about an AC's genitals??
Of course it didn't. On Slashdot, those two things are just assumed.
"Are you trying to turn any intelligent discussion into"
Yeah, they should try naming their operating systems after cats, as that makes way more sense...
Actually NT was their server and desktop versions. NT Server was the sever version, NT Workstation was the desktop version.
Whooosh!

Close, but no cigar. I asked for a home built Mac, not a generic machine that will run OS X. There is a huge difference.
Alright then. Show me your home built Mac.

I only use safety razors.

I believe the full song title is "Man in the Middle(of Two Twelve Year Old Boys)"
I tried to submit this story to a few sites, but the packets were Deep Inspected, and thrown out. Bastards.
