And party affiliation doesn't matter. I am sure Hollywood gives a ton of money to both Republicans and Democrats, just to "cover all bases".

Those seem like contradictory statements. I already have Netflix and want to be able to access all the features. The Mac Minis seem underpowered for what you could get if you built it yourself. (Unless a "sexy case" is the most important aspect of it to you.) I think you haven't looked at the prices of Minis for a while too. $600 for a Dou Core 1.83, 1GB of RAM, and an 80GB hard drive? I just built a Duo Core 3.0 Ghz, 4GB RAM, 750 GB drive, and a Geforce 9800 GT for the same price. Granted it is a little bigger than a Mini (well a lot bigger) but size wasn't an issue for me. (I also got a nice Antec 500W power supply, and Antec case and a ThermalMax CPU cooler included in the price. And a LG Dual-layer DVD-RW.)

  20. Re:They work well too on WISPS Mean Cable and DSL Aren't the Only Choices · · Score: 1

That isn't too expensive. I have Comcast where I live, and it is $55 for digital cable (the cheapest package) and another $45 for the internet. No breaks. My cable/internet bill is about $109 after all the BS fees and taxes are calculated. The other options are DSL, which I am not close enough to a switching point to get the speed I want, or the city-wide wireless which I have heard nothing but horror stories about their service, and also would cost $35/month for 6Mb speed, plus the $5/month for their "wireless modem" you need to use their wireless (I know, it doesn't make much sense). So no matter how you slice it, where I live you are paying a minimum of $40-50 per month for broadband internet. That seems like too much to me.

You are making HUGE assumptions now. I never once called them "heroes" or thought anything along those lines. (Hint - a lot of Americans also think what their government says is mostly bullshit too.) I was merely pointing out it is easy to speculate what one might do in a similar situation, but that is all it is - speculation. Those people had no idea what was going on, and hindsight is 20/20. If they had all the information that you have now about what was happening, it may have turned out different.

Pretty easy to armchair quarterback in total safety what you think you would have done in the same situation, but the truth is you would never know until you were in that situation. I don't think the plane was full of extraordinarily "unaverage" people - they were average joes. Odds are you would have sat right there with them scared out of your wits as well. The funny thing is, if as many people who claimed they would be a hero in situations such as this actually did step up and be a hero, stuff like that would not happen as much as it does in reality.

P.S. It would be fairly trivial to kill someone with what you call a "kid's knife". A box cutter is a razor blade with a handle. Would you like to be slashed with a razor?
