I feel ya, brother. I mean, I'm trying to get Vista Home Edition to run on my 486DX2/66, and it just won't, no matter which components I upgrade!
No problem. Just bypass the power supply and hook it up directly to 3 phase power then over clock to 5 gig. Make sure you increase the flow of liquid nitrogen in your cooling system to compensation for the slight increase in heat generated. If you black out the neighborhood try backing it off the overclock to 4.9 gig but back it off slowly. You'll need to write some custom drivers and it may not be that stable, also it'll set you back a few grand for the extra hardware, but the point is to avoid buying a new machine when you have a perfectly good machine capible of displaying a 64,000 colors on a 14" monitor. Oh, you might want to keep a fire extinguisher handy. If the Nitrogen runs out they tend to go up like a low grade nuke.
Dreamworks sold out day one. Most of their successful CG films were knock offs of what Pixar was doing. They just fast tracked them so they could release first so it wouldn't be so obvious they were ripping off Pixar. Shrek was their big non Pixar success but the Shrek project dates back to the 80s. Before they started knocking off Pixar their animation department was in serious trouble. Little things like Prince of Eygpt and Sinbad died horribly. Ripping off Pixar saved the company.
All jokes aside it's impressive accomplishment to go from a single mother on the dole to the most successful author of all time and she's still relatively young. The big question really has to be what next?
Where have you been? A couple of months ago there was a rash of Mac bashing. More recently the iPhone got slammed inspite of no one slamming it have ever held one. The story is a legit issue so if anything I'd say they are going easy on Vista. After five years of waiting it's an eye candy yawn fest.
I'm a long time PC user but isn't it funny how Mac users aren't afraid of upgrades but PC users will say what are you stupid upgrading early? If you listen close and read between the lines I think the best Mac salespeople are PC users.
If you essentially have a monopoly on home computers do you really have to appeal to customes? Basically do you want a computer or not can be the sales pitch. Apple may be an alternative but there are limitations in software availiblity and compatibility and most people are just used to PCs. What I find most interesting was before it's release most pro PC types were claiming how innovative it was but now that it's out and everyone has seen it they are all saying what were you expecting, innovation? The argument is it's more stable, be happy. Five years is a long time for what amounts to a bug fix. They changed the interface and made it more secure but it's hardly earth shaking for a five year development cycle. I'm not taking either side but Mac has produced more innovation on a yearly basis than Microsoft has managed in five years. Considering how much was spent that's pretty sad. The only feature I'm interested in is Direct X10. The extra stability may come with a price since I've heard some of my software may not run on it and most of my stuff is heavily licenced and a pain to reload if there are problems. So long as they command better than 90% of the market share I wouldn't expect much simply because they don't have to produce much. They need some serious competition to drive innovation. Linux has trouble breaking away from being something for the fanatics. Just too many install and maintainence problems. Mac can give them a run for their money but not until they approach 10% market share. This year could get interesting since Leopard looks pretty stunning and they do have a lot of new products coming out. My biggest complaints with Windows is the stability, lack there of, and with XP the fact it won't leave me alone, and Vista is supposed to be much worse. I violently hate constantly being prompted. It really slows my workflow so inspite of my fastest machine being XP Pro I generally still work on my Win 2000 system eventhough it's half the speed. It's less annoying.
Everyone seems to feel they overreacted but what if they did nothing and they were bombs and some one got hurt? Why didn't the cops just poked around in the bags? See my first comment, that's what bomb squads are for to keep beat cops for getting hurt in situations like this. It was a dumb stunt that's costing us all money. My first thought wasn't bombs but that some one might have been testing responses by the police. There's been a number of other similar cases lately so I've been wary of things like this. Don't be so quick to blast authority figures for doing their jobs for once. Trust me the next time it's a real bomb people will be wondering why they didn't more not wondering why they didn't do less.
but the real problem is speed. The quality is quite nice on current simulators it's speed that's a problem. They say the new math isn't faster just more accurate. For entertainment use we need faster not better specs. We need something similar to hardware excelloration that is now done with particle systems. In the old days particles took forever to render but with games and software like Maya they are generally live rendered. High quality live water would be huge for graphics and earth shattering for games. It's possible but it may take a custom core on a video card CPU to pull it off. Water is a big part of many games so it'd be worth dedicated water rendering on video cards.
Well ironically western cities have the opposite problem. The Phoenix area has seen a massive spike in humidity because of all lawns and pools. Recovering part of that added humidity would have a huge benefit. Granted the most efficent thing to do would be to ban lawns and pools but that isn't likely to happen. I'm not convinced he has anything dramatically new but it does pose an interesting point that small winddriven devices could offset some water useage and provide water to severely drought stricken areas. I'm most skeptical about the implied efficency. Sounds a little too good to be true.
There really isn't much debate about it. There's dogma about only Homo Sapeins surviving past the Neaderthal extinction then the facts on the other side. The skull looks exactly like a Homo Erectus including the brain case. There are no Homo Sapein skulls no matter how diseased that match it. The brain case scans were the smoking gun. The only thing different from Homo Erectus is the size. She's well below the size range for an adult Erectus so there was a form of downsizing involved since it's unlikely she's an off shoot she's most likely a decendant of Homo Erectus. The fact all the other bones in the cave were of the same size and represent several indiviuals should put to rest it was a disease. I tend to doubt they had a leper colony for individuals with that disease. Her brain size is also proportionally small for an Erectus but the structures are all correct just smaller. It's probably a result of a poor diet that lead to the downsizing. There's resistence to changing the history of hominids but outside of dogma the test thus far have left little doubt the skeleton is not Homo Sapein and most likely a downsized Erectus.
The last time I tried upgrading a Windows OS was ME. That compounded a disaster on a disaster. Most of my system fonts disappeared and it largely killed a machine. I managed to somehow scrub ME out of the machine and managed to even recover my fonts, they were still there. I swore never again to try to install a Windows upgrade. Better to get a full copy and just swap out the hard drive until you are sure all is well. I then use the original hard drive as a back up drive then drag across my files. Costs a bit more but it's a lot safer.
Since there's no perfect solution let's do nothing seems to be the attitude. The primary opposition in truth seems to be the percieved feeling that it legitimizes porn in some way. At least it would give them a fighting chance to block the bulk of porn. It's a loosing battle to remove all porn. Start doing image searches on Google, you'll find lots of nudity. Everyone wants a magic bullet solution. There is none.
This law is instructing all states to comply with an arbitrary standard. They can't compel the states to do that. They must dangle money as a request.
Shades of 55 mph. That was the approach the federal government took in enforcing that standard. In that case Texas was the first state to say bite me. The states had more power when it was a confederation but they still have a lot of power. I wish they'd nail the Supreme Court for modifying the Constitution through interpretation. That's squarely a state power not a Supreme Court power. Interpretation doesn't empower them to rethink the Constitution to suit their tastes. The federal government has been robbing state powers for years. Time for them to stand up to the feds.
another good reason not to upgrade.

Fire how else do you expect to toast the bread.

Maybe they saw the Mac commercials about upgrading PCs and they're afraid of the upgrade?
Ah, the sweet smell of diesel!
Just cram a couple of nukes down it. If you want any how to infomation consult SciFi Channel or any one of a hundred low budget scifi films.

...the ME layer? It's composed of the ME install disks that started forming the day after it came out.
Beat me to the punch. It would definately eliminate a big hesitation for a lot of people. Also make it easier to upgrade to the next model iPhone.
The presence of an early Starbucks proves it was a city and likely to be one of the earliest geek sites.

Yeah let's sell it to a bunch of geeks. All they'll do is turn it around and aim it at the nearest nude beach.
The butler, they're always guilty.
ET phone porn.

Instead of flea circuses we can have bacteria circuses!
