Exactly. The cat is out of the bag and even they realize it now. It's not going to be banned anytime soon, if they were even thinking about it we would have been moving towards it by now, not away from it.
We've had encryption this good, or close to it, for decades now. And if looking back, if anything it is likely that laws concerning cryptography will continue to get weaker and weaker, as they have been doing. This stuff used to be heavily export controlled, not so much anymore. Just look at the history of PGP.
You have two problems at work here: you have to do this under a shitton of water, and you are trying to cap a pipe with a shitton of pressure behind it. If it were as simple as "simply clamping/bolting a cap on it", then I suspect it would be done by now.
Or hey, maybe I'm wrong and you should be busy sending your resume to BP right away instead of posting on slashdot.;)
I don't think linux will become a more profitable platform to target than windows for major game houses in any sort of foreseeable future, but I think that graph from the article makes a pretty strong case for indie developers to target linux.
Good news for indy developers (who now have a larger potential audience), and of course good news for linux users.
You mistake my expression of displeasure at TheOtherChimeraTwin for being thinking he knows better than I what I should say, for me making a statement concerning the abridgment of my rights.
He wasn't abridging my rights, he was being an ass. I was merely calling him on that.
Just because someone is going to get mad, doesn't mean I shouldn't do it. I'll exercise discretion as I please, who are you to dictate your ideas of respect to me?
In fact they can do that regardless of how they store the data.
And yet, to the best of my knowledge, they don't. Even if someone tries to make this standard practice, if these cards were in use they'd point to the supposed "write once" nature of them as a reason not to.
What we really need in this world is politicians that both understand technology, and are driven enough to push for it's application for the good of the people. It seems these days politicians either don't get it, or try to use it against the people.
What exactly would that accomplish, besides creating one very likely brain damaged and paralyzed monkey? We already know that we use brains for learning, hardly something that needs testing in such a convulted manner.
I don't think that in this context "racism" necessarily means what it might generally mean. I believe they often measure it in babies by seeing how long a baby will remain interested on average by pictures of various faces of people with various ethnicities. It's not about the babies thinking "any less" of anyone, it's just some sort of hard-coded response. Anyways, I'm not a biologist or anything, so I'm not really qualified to disect that paper, though I've seen various similar ones in some other journals.
Wait, we are supposed to give more money to schools where teachers are getting robbed at knifepoint? That doesn't seem like a great investment to me...
He isn't part of some paramilitary group so he would be dealt with in a legal manner.
That the government deals with membes of "some paramilitary group" in an illegal manner, suggests that being dealt with in a "legal manner" means about jack shit.
Should the video have been released. I would say yes one way or another.
By your own retarded-ass justification of why he is guilty of asserting "the ends justify the means", so are you.
Nobody is unbiased, and expecting people to be so is unreasonable.
I am also glad the video is out.
Somehow, I actually doubt that. You are upset this video came out but the only way to criticise its release and not be immediately tagged as a troll that you can puzzle out is to pretend that you appreciate that the video was released but disapprove of the manner in which it was done.
Your calculations are off because there are only approximately 40,000 different zipcodes in the US and there areoften more than 10,000 people in a single zipcode (mine has 50,000). Zipcode+4 generally refers to a rather small number of people, but it can't be used as a serial number for individual by any means.
A ZIP+4 code uses the basic five-digit code plus four additional digits to identify a geographic segment within the five-digit delivery area, such as a city block, a group of apartments

Still waiting baby. Still waiting.
Holy shit you are really one unstable fuck.
Maybe they were unfamilar with the platform, and didn't code the engine to be relatively platform independant the first time around?

Wait, for free!?! Free bacon flavor, that is so excellent. Seems I'll have to try out subway again.

Ah, but we do want pakistanis to find this. It is their government that doesn't wish for them to view it.

So does that mean they are only block my comment from being viewed, but not all of slashdot? I'd like to see how they plan on doing that.

Didn't we just get done saying that ideally sex should not matter? I suspect you are part of the problem.
Well you see, the definition of open can mean different things to different people. To you it means open, to skype it means avoiding the question.
Wait, we are supposed to give more money to schools where teachers are getting robbed at knifepoint? That doesn't seem like a great investment to me...
Actually I greatly prefer Cool Runnings.
Did you know that 40% of office fires are started on Mondays or Fridays? Shocking!

One might argue that being able to recognize this makes him more qualified for the position than anyone else.
