If you are denied your right to face your accusations in court and state your case, then you have no rights at all. If a man can decide when the law applies and when it doesn't, then the law is, in fact, not the highest power in the land and....its all a pack of lies.

Pretty quickly I came to the opinion that the main factions were a bunch of racist assholes and I had no horse in their race (a metaphor for real elections), and really just hoped for as bloody a battle as possible between them both.

After a while I started to identify with that part of the character, to the point that it did effect the choices I made in the game. It really is a powerful disincentive to know you are dealing with someone who sees you right off the bad as not their equal.

Bullshit. Just because you can pick a few examples of places where big corperations would win out, doesn't mean that those are the rule. I mean are you really suggesting that entire industries, with deep enough pockets to do all sorts of analsys for themselves, have spent millions, if not hundreds of millions of dollars fighting to extend and strengthen copyright....you really are suggesting they have misspent all that money and they are really the ones who stand the most to GAIN by just....not doing that.

Its not that I would never buy that argument but, I think its going to take a bit more than "look they could have just used star wars" to do so. I mean its true but, that is such a simplistic view, when it would ALSO open the door for everyone else to use it, including many smaller outlets.

I mean seriously, if every yahoo out there making star wars fan fiction could actually try to make a buck off it, well, few would actually see any returns, and most would still be shit, but, I have trouble imagining there wouldn't be a few that rose out of there above the rest and who could put some real production value into it. Perhaps we would have some movies out by now in that universe that rivaled the originals or even surpassed them.

Does satiating sexual desire with porn increase the frequency or amplitude of desire? Does it make one want the real thing more if so, is that even relevant? Perhaps the desire increases but the satiation is enough to lead to apathy?

That certainly would line up with the claims other people make about porn. "Porn is why my husband no longer sleeps with me", may or may not be a legitimate claim but, is NOT an infrequent one. The problem with sugar is really a quantity thing, and that it has secondary effects on appetite. Which is why you want to manage sugar intake since sugar intake leads to more food cravings. The less hunger you need to resist the easier it is to eat less, and its much easier to manage that up front by managing sugar intake than ignoring hunger.

Thing is, this is really the status quo. A few years back when that Henry Louis Gates arrest happened here. There was all this racial outrage at what happened but, one thing people totally missed was....the police actually had no reason at all to arrest him.

The very charge he was arrested on, there are cases, right here in our state, of FAR more egrgious actions where the courts ruled did not meet the criteria for disorderly conduct. 20 years prior to that arrest, a the courts had ruled that a person who had refused orders to leave the scene of an arrest and yelled at police, and even approached them flailing his arms wildly.... he did not meet the criteria for arrest.

So if this has been known for 20 years...how are people still today being arrested on this charge? Quite simply because they face absolutely no penalty for getting it wrong. They can search illegally, they can arrest with little to no reason, they face absolutely nothing but a pat on the back for doing the best they could.

Since no one selection decreases the population significantly, each choice has a 9 out of 10 chance of not being gay. Which maybe my math is wrong but (9/10)^12 is .28, or 28% or about 1 in 3 chance of picking an all straight group of appostles.

I wouldn't place many bets on a 1 in 3 chance, but, I wouldn't bet much against it either.
