"Right but it does explain how people got by eating and drinking from leaded pewter dishes every day while slathering them selves in lead based make up; "
They died with the Roman Empire, some scientists even say, lead is the cause of both deaths.
Hell, they used to EAT the stuff. Look up Sugar of Lead...
I've tried to catch every launch of SpaceX (and NASA). One thing I noticed in the video - when the second stage lights off, it really scoots away from the first stage! A LOT more than with Falcon launches.
They did this on Street Outlaws. Farmtruck and AZN bought a Hearse and hollowed out the seats so it looked like no one was driving. They got pulled over by Okla. City cops who had no sense of humor at all.
To which you replied that the USA has a lot more people than Norway. I strongly suspect that this means that you are an idiot.
I probably am an idiot. But even an idiot recognizes that there are some problems that do not scale linearly. I have had similar arguments (scalability) with regards to health care.
The VAST majority of the messages are nothing more than boilerplate emails from sources such as Common Cause. Perhaps the fingers should be pointed at THESE fine folks for not redacting the names? But that wouldn't fit the narrative, would it? And, btw, the goat.se pictures *were* redacted...
Many times, the network advertising rates are based upon rating shares. A deliberate deception, which raises the apparent share, and therefore ad rates, is fraud - plain and simple. The advertisers should be up in arms about this.
Taking many by surprise last December, Amazon announced it was making its on-demand streaming service, for which it would typically charge USD 5.99 a month, available in 242 countries and territories at an introductory price of USD 2.99 or EUR 2.99 per month for the first six months.
This pricing is only for regions that do not have a Prime subscription service already available.
Just looked at Amazon's pricing schedule. $8.99 for Prime Video; $10.99/month; $99/year. So, no, for most of us, this deal doesn't apply.
It's more populated than you think - most of the towns in that neck of the woods are coastal. Also Peterhead has a 3 gas turbine power station plus Aberdeen is just down the road with a population of 200,000. Finally Scotland is criss-crossed by the National Grid distribution system due to amount of Nuclear Stations that were [and some still are] dotted around : a network which is of course tied into the UK as a whole.
Looking at the map, the towns you mention are on the northeast "finger" that sticks out. TFA doesn't say exactly where the windmills will be anchored. If they're near these fine cities, then well and good. If they're up north, say somewhere between Durness and Dunnet, then it might be a different matter. Still, wish them well, where ever they put down.
As usual, TFA is short on some important details. Wind turbines, great. Floating, anchored in (relatively) deep coastal waters, great. How does the power get back to shore? The northern coast of Scotland isn't really a very highly populated area, how does this project tie into the existing power grid?
T. Boone Pickens had an idea a few yeard ago - build wind farms across the panhandle of Texas, then run the power back along railroad right-of-ways. Trains might run through the middle of nowhere, but their destinations are always in towns.
Onions? I've never seen stickers on onions. By-the-piece onions (around here at least) come in three flavors - red, white, and yellow. Or by the bag, already labeled. I can see why you would need labels on apples as there are about a dozen varieties, even at small grocery stores. Most everything else is unique enough that you can tell what it is, although some cashiers seem to be clueless about "exotic" fruits like kiwis, dragonfruit, and mangos.
One would either have to have a pump installed, which pierces the skin, or give themselves injections. In actuality, this does nothing for type 1 patients. Holy Grail, I think not.
Maybe not a Holy Grail. I try to control my blood sugar with pills rather than injections. Knowing what it is at any given moment would help me make better choices in food. Plus warm me if I mess up and actually do need an injection (and how well the injection is working).
I'm tired of poking a needle in my finger twice a day to make me bleed so I can check my blood sugar. Then there's the cost/bother of the strips and machine (strips have a short shelf life, machines eat batteries).
If you don't want your plant unionized, pack up and move to a non-union or "right to work" state. I bet Texas would love to have you. Other benefits, lower taxes, less regulation, good selection of high tech workers.
OK, if that's a sound that bothers you, I can respect that. I tend to eat fairly quietly.
Except when I'm over at the neighbor's house. They have two little ankle-biting yipper dogs that I love to torment by acting like I'm eating and making "nom-nom-nom" sounds. They think they're missing out and it drivrd them crazy.
Swallowing is uncultured? What's the alternative, not swallowing?
Eat! Chew! Swallow! Do all of these! I don't need to hear you do them!
On another note, slurping is OK. It is recognized as good manners in some cultures. (but once it's inside your mouth, there's no need for any more noise!).
Fingernails on a chalkboard, screaming/yelling, etc. - most of these sounds don't really upset me. What does tick me off is the sound of gulping/swallowing. I don't make these noises, but too many of you uncultured pigs do, and I've been keeping a list...
That's what he wants. It's what he needs to feel important and the more you give into it, the more he's going to keep doing these stupid, stupid things.
It's called a THERMOSTAT
and no, it's not connected to the internet.
Those numbers are greater than the GDP of nations. In 2017 the GDP of the U.S. was only about 20 billion.

... it should be just as easy to do this in the US as in Norway!
mmmmm....yeah
Norway - population ~5.2 million total
Ireland - population ~6.4 million total
Virginia - population ~8.5 million total
Two countries vs one state
Bit of a difference in scope, donchathink?

So, this is a bit like the aftermath of a large college football game in a rural town?

Perhaps it's not that drinking makes you stupid, but rather you have to be stupid in the first place to drink.

The holy grail would be for people to stop eating so much damn sugar.
And people would be beautiful if they weren't so dam' ugly. Sorry, but some of us are just born this way.

For years, people have wondered why all Windows drivers are dated June 21, 2006.
Yup, I just checked. All my XP and Vista drivers are dated 7/21/2006. How did they know?
Don't slurp.
