Dammit Microsoft! You're making it harder and harder to pirate your damn OS. Why do you isolate your users like this?!?!? I'm fed up! You've been reducing the capability to pirate since XP came out, and i'm damn tired of it!!!!! If you keep this sh*t up, we might just move to linux, or worse, Mac OS

    Basically.

Look, Comcast is just being pissy because they dont want to put in new lines. End of story. In my area (as with MANY others) cable companies are bought out all the time. Comcast bought Adelphia, who had bought GE Communications probably 5 years before that. Comcast KNOWS that if it puts the money into upgrading its capacity, it will bankrupt, and some new, fancy cable company will come in, but its newly installed lines for pennies on the dollar, and take over. Problem solved for 5 years.

I don't care for Verizon personally, but they're doing the right stuff with this FiOS. They're laying down fresh fiber to eventually replace their old copper lines. The interwebz aren't getting any smaller, so this is the way all ISPs will have to go sooner or later (without some miracle in wireless tech).

Furthermore, I am paying for an unlimited service. Thats what its called and advertised as, unlimited. Well, fucking with my speeds and sending fake reset packets, well, that seems like a limit to me, doesn't it?

I envy you people that CAN bitch about other sucky ISPs, because Comcast is the only one I'll ever be able to bitch about here.

How is this supposed to work anyway? Don't you need molecules to produce a frequency? like, we have 900 mhz waves for our cell phones on earth, which use air molecules that vibrate at these frequencies. On the moon, there is no atmosphere, so traditional cell tech wouldn't work

Is this correct or am i just talking out of my ass (which i might be)?

  5. Re:If comcast want'sto do this on Comcast Defends Role As Internet Traffic Cop · · Score: 2, Informative

obviously you aren't a comcast subscriber then. I've been dealing with this shit for about a year now.

Comcast sends fake packets to both the sending and receiving end of the transmission telling the programs that the other end has closed transmission. AKA, my upload speeds are virtually 0. well, when you don't upload, you can't download as fast. I'd love to host a torrent for a while to help keep the torrent network alive, but how can i do that if my upload ability is non-existant.

Next, my web surfing is severely limited when downloading torrents now. It takes a few minutes to load my email while DLing a torrent, no matter what the speed. Hell, it doesn't matter whether I download and surf on the same computer or not, the speed is still shit. I didn't have this problem before when i had adelphia (which comcast bought out).

I pay for UNLIMITED service. Unlimited means that there shall be no limits. Either give me that, or charge me less.

The funny thing is, the day that the FCC or whoever said they were going to investigate comcast's throttling, they had stopped. It soon resumed, but they stopped for a few days.
