The firefighters insurance would not cover them for fighting this fire, as it isn't in their jurisdiction. The city can't put a lein on his house or anything to force him to pay the full cost, as the city not only doesnt have the jurisdiction, its in ANOTHER STATE. Any bill that he would have agreed to pay at the time of the fire wouldn't hold up in court, as he had agreed to the terms under duress.
So there. Everything, EVERYTHING was done as it was supposed to be done. The only dick is the guy himself

They did show up, they would have gone in (they are required to) to save a person, and would have fought the fire to the extent to save the person's life

If a firefighter were to be hurt fighting this fire, his firefighter insurance would no cover it, because it would have been considered an unnecessary service. Finally, even if the FD has some sort of "pay now" contract, it would never hold up, as the homeowner would sign it under duress (let alone be able to pay for it)

Sounds like a non-problem then, since the new MBP battery is rated for 1000 full charge-discharge cycles while maintaining >80% of their original charge, whereas the industry standard battery lasts 300 charges. So, you can either buy 2 replacement batteries on your other laptops, or probably never replace your battery on your MBP.
And yeah, the battery costs more since it last over 3x longer than other batteries...
Sorta. They give out $229 towards an iPod, and also $100 towards a printer, so you either get free stuff, or see it on ebay. In all, $329 in free stuff plus the 15% student discount

There isn't an 'opt-out' policy. The city CANNOT make the people out of their jurisdiction pay. This is strictly opt-in
