    One could in theory write a ruby language bytecode compiler/interpreter for Java and use it there.

    Dreamhost is even cheaper. Search for coupons on the web and you can have $97 off per year (which basically allows you to buy one year hosting plus one domain name for $22 per year).

    Did you read TFA? They charge for real estate in NY. Granted, they made that decision because of spam, but not all ads are free.

    If you are registering a new domain, I suggest ipower.com (only 2.95$ for the first year). Their control panel is a bit confusing but you can always transfer your domain to somewhere else (like namecheap.com).

    I second Lotus Notes/Domino. It is a very rapid application development tool. Only downside seems to be a somewhat awkward user interface but when you develop web applications, your users won't see the Notes client anyway.

    If you were anywhere but slashdot, people would reply "my screen moves up and down like crazy, you ruined my internet". You can't assume that the majority of readers are using Firefox in any other forum.

    The bad capacitors--or "bad caps" as they are sometimes called--are black and gold-colored low-ESR (equivalent series resistance) aluminum electrolytic cylinders about an inch in length and marked HN(M) and HM(M) on the side with a letter "X" stamped on the top. The capacitors are found in some motherboards, video cards and power supplies for PCs, monitors, video tape players and televisions.

    Not that I'm unhappy with the release, but the whining is because he already knew that he'd release them on DVD when he said he wouldn't. If he had actually meant not to release DVDs and then seen the right thing, nobody would complain.
