The problem, of course, is the lack of objective reporting. I've had various Desktop Linux distro's (and OS X) crash on me far more often than XP sp2+ and Vista has over the past 4-5 years. Pointing out the former will only result in a Troll or Flamebait mod, while the same MS jokes we've been hearing for the last 10 years still get modded funny.

If you're going to post here on slashdot, you will need to follow a few easy-to-remember rules:
    • Microsoft is inherently evil, their products are assumed to be inferior, whether or not you've actually used them.
    • Firefox and Linux are inherently good. Any shortcomings are to be overlooked. Any references to either must be qualified with "(PBUI)" or "Praise Be Upon It."
    • The only closed-source software in which praise can be given is Opera. You will receive bonus points for non-conformance, especially if you use the e-mail and bit torrent client.
    • Google is evil because they haven't yet ported their browser for a community who will refuse to use it until they also release a plug-in that circumvents their primary revenue stream.

    Thanks! And happy posting.

This is true, but graphics nowadays are not being hamstrung by resolutions. Watching football at 1080p is a beautiful thing. Once consoles can surpass that metric, I'll agree that consoles are being "held back" by the 1080p limit.

2008 was about as "Year of the Linux Desktop" as it will ever get. Even disregarding the decade plus and millions of dollars spent on R&D on the subject and going purely on firsthand experience, I call bullshit on you. Had you locked your brakes up going down a hill, not only would you have gotten in an accident at a higher rate of speed, your car would have rotated and done more damage to others and likely yourself. Blaming ABS is a convenient excuse for your accident, albeit a completely ridiculous one.
