This was attempted in the UK with Network Rail, and what a fiasco that has been.
It's far cheaper to fly overseas than travel by rail within England unless you book more than 3 months in advance... And even the trains you do take are half empty.
See this is what happens when you let robin williams loose with spore - and he starts putting monoliths on planets...
"The player may place a "monolith" (à la 2001: A Space Odyssey) on a planet, triggering evolution of intelligent life, then come back later to see what has evolved."

This is what I just don't "get" about the Internet.
Why are insults so easily traded? Why are we told it's ok to have nasty horrible comments thrown about and if you don't like it - you hear "grow a spine" or "if you don't like it go post somewhere else"?
Would the people who do make the comments ever have the ability to say it to someone's face?
"Enter domain here, click here for more information on domains."
And therein lies your problem - Jargon.
IT is full of terms that your average user is not going to understand. If you dumbed down the language, and made an effort to see things from a user perspective, then maybe your users would be a lot happier.
Why would you want net nerds to do anything?
Look at the snakes on a plane hype that took over the Internet, but never turned into box office numbers.
Snakes on a Plane:
Opened in 3,555 theaters
1st Weekend Box-Office: $15.3 million
Borat:
Opens in 837 theaters
1st Weekend Box-Office: $26 million
What if the initial movie doesn't beome popular but the DVD/HD-DVD/Blu-ray release ends up having a massive cult following? Surely they cannot expect the measure the value of the Internet SoaP phenomenon until it's released on an alternative medium.
How many geeks without girlfriends are really confident enough to go to a movie on thier own?
I would suggest it's more that IP (as in Internet Protocol) is worming it's way into everything else.
You've heard the stories about the frige that tells you when you've run out of milk, imagine the next step when you get a froogle/googlelocal breakdown of your favourite brands, who's selling them cheapest, and how far away they are, which then interfaces with your car navigation system to get you there...
Case in point: New Zealand. The country that had the highest literacy rate in the world with a phonetic style of teaching children to read. Now they have moved to whole word learning, and New Zealand has dropped to have one of the lowest literacy rates.
When will the world learn that Geeks and Nerds are completely different "types" - they are not interchangable... Some may class themselves as both - But most of us 'Geeks' would agree we are definitely NOT 'Nerds'...

I doubt it.
Firefox is actually only 11% of Internet browsers. 1. MSIE 6.x 55860506 (63%) 2. MSIE 7.x 17991613 (20%) 3. FireFox 9759473 (11%) (source: http://www.thecounter.com/stats/2007/January/brows er.php )

Does this mean that "Harry" gets his kit off in relation to some animal that hagrid brings home?

I guess the next line will be "All it was, was a bunch of people walking, four or possibly five movies of people walking to a fu*king volcano."

Anyone remember the fabulous game "The 7th Guest"?
I I:_The_13th_Doll
Sadly this company bombed out after The 11th hour - as the sequel didn't sell enough to keep the company solvent.
These two games have such a following that a group of fans have got together to recreate the story, create a third game "The 13th Doll" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_7th_Guest_Part_I
In my opinion this is what makes a highbrow game - a cult classic with a rabid fan following.
Actually no.

They must be putting all their development $$ into Spore - the game that will save EA
