  1. Re:wouldn't this on Physicists Promise Wireless Power · · Score: 1

No, I was pointing out devices that take a lot of power. Yes, they happened to be near outlets, but the article talked about reducing the number of cables you used. Most of the stuff i have drains a good bit of power, and my concern was that "WOULDN'T THIS BE FOR THINGS WITH LOW POWER DRAIN." I essentially said it would be good for !gasp! mobile devices.

If you had actually read my post instead of trying to spring board a moronic and lame joke, you might have noticed what I said. I wasn't saying that it is useless, I'm saying because broadcast power, at least from what i have seen, isn't the most efficient way to move electricity. You tend to waste a good bit of the power to get it through the air. With a device that only pulls a small amount of of power you won't really notice the energy being wasted to get power to the device, however on a larger item, the power usage would be noticeable, and the power that is wasted would be undesirable. I'm also willing to bet that the coffee warmer takes several times more power than any palm pilot would.

be best suited for low power applications. Charging a cell phone or palm pilot for example. I mean, I don't see this working for my 500watt computer or my xbox 360. It might charge the controller for my 360, but it would really only get rid of maybe 2 cables behind my computer.

Slightly off topic, might be IT related, since it was a software thing. Guy I have met in the CS program at my school came back one day from his internship with his bosses business card. His boss was the "Director of Product Enhancements". However on the front of the card it was given as an acronym, DOPE.

For 2 reasons it was funny. One it came straight out of a Dilbert comic, the prof found it incredibly funny too.
2nd reason, apparently this manager requested that every first letter in his title be in the acronym. Originally it was just DPE. His boss apparently remains completely oblivious.

I was also suprised considering how small the company was.

Eventually the console and "PC" will be dead, we will have moved onto another computing paradigm. I am an avid PC gamer, I enjoy mapping in Source and I used to like mapping in goldsrc. I hate CS with a burning passion. After 2 good years of playing it I got sick of it, it lost all its fun. Still fun for a quick lan match, but i think people should just move on.

I used to run a q3 or q2 dedicated server at my HS. We didn't do work in the lab, we played q3 or Q2, I was hated for my rail gun prowess in both.

The average 14 yearold has no clue in hell where technology is going to go. That is the average halo fanboy idiot. Hell the average console gamer doesn't either. They talk a lot but its not going to happen. I also don't see how liking halo makes you think PC gameing will die.

Halo was fun, it was fluid and it was a good time at a party. The story was good for an FPS and it has a fairly well thought out plot. It Did have substance, so does HL, SS, SS2,Deus Ex, so do enumerable games in the genre. Why the hell do we have to act like a bunch of music snobs who sit around discussing what music/band/sound/bs is better instead of just going out and enjoying every bit of it that we like, why do we have to shove our opinions about what game is the "ultimate" experience.
