    if you don't run your system as a local admin there is very little chance that you can get a virus like conflicker. Removing admin rights from users will prevent 99% of spyware and viruses.

    Someone should build a site called 'Presume', which strips out 2/3rds of the words, knock the reading time down to 15 seconds.

    There is a site that reduces the reading time down to zero and you are looking at it right now.

    hopefully marijuana will go back to being legal by then. the "war on drugs" is about as fruitful as a "war on the weather" would be. it could only be considered a success if the original goal was to help create the private prison industry in the US.

For too long international trade agreements have been solely about making the flow of capital and profits easier. Maybe it is time to ease the flow of dignity and respect as well.

    Don't let users run as admins. if you have programs that don't behave well in a least-priviledge environment, you can use privilegemanager http://www.beyondtrust.com/ I have used it in networks both large and small and it works very well. No spyware or viruses for over 5 years on a wide variety of Windows-based networks. Next best thing to switching to Linux.

    read some of the other posts. the batteries will last far longer than most people will keep the vehicle. 10 years at least on current generation electric vehicles.

    I can think of many times I would rather be looking at a model than what I am actually looking at...

    VR is the only way most slashdotters are going to "superimpose" models on their "objects".

    you must be American, the rest of the world tends to see the BBC as centrist and all the american networks you mention as right-winged to varying degrees. What Americans consider left-wing is general centre-right in Europe and Canada.

    The ALCB was hugely profitable when the Alberta Government sold it. The only reason it was sold was so that the "benefits of privatization" could passed on to friends of the ruling party. And this is exactly what happened. Tory insiders bought all the liquor stores, liquor store wages dropped in half and the taxpayers lost a cash cow. Liquor prices did not drop and the Alberta government still controls the back end distribution/warehouses.
