Shouldn't all of the points of space have their own frames of references and not be synced anyway? The planck length units would overlap practically infinitely.
It's not that much a safety issue. The safety issue is sort of a straw man argument that keeps the attention from the real issue:
By introducing genetically modified crops into the process it's getting owned by fewer and fewer companies. The farmers' and the consumers' connection to the Earth and the crops is diminishing. Everything is becoming an exploitable resource rather than the process would sustain a balanced and personal relationship.
Now that Apple has removed the upgradability feature, I'm not quite sure where I'll go next.
I've already decided. I'll build my own laptop. I know it's not going to be as sleek, but the miniaturization process is marching on and the availability of suitable and performing parts will improve. Heck, I think that in a few years time there will be whole computer kits and random parts (today's high end) sold in supermarkets like legos. Building one's own computer will get easier and funnier once we get over with the ecosystems and brands.
The problem is that you'd first have to record a huge amount of EEG data correlated with the verbal output and the perceptions of the person to be questioned, to construct any sort of model to be used later in the interrogation room. Otherwise the EEG data is mostly meaningless noise. Besides the person with the EEG headset can obfuscate the interrogation ad infinitum by pressing teeth together for example (thus enhancing alpha waves), or moving the facial muscles in some other ways.
One thing to consider is the cumulative dose of chemicals from the daily use of various products.
I made a strategic decision a while back to use only all-natural/mostly chemical free products for the daily hygiene (I'm mostly vegan anyway), and I've not been disappointed. The deodorant crystal for example is excellent. It only contains the effective natural ingredient and works well (if you're not a high odor person). It's amazing how it just completely kills the body odor. I've also stopped using shampoo, and my hair is now less greasy than before. The reward for stepping out of my habits (marketed to me) has not a been catastrophe but something better.
My next step is to change my toothpaste or at least give a chance to an alternative product. It's not so easy, because I'm so used to certain product since childhood, but I think it's worth trying.
After the cross convergence of the myriad of simulations we'd probably by now live in a forgotten corner of the simulation matrix which nobody knows or remembers anything about. The feeling of loneliness in the vast space keeps the dreams of living in a simulation alive - there just has to be somebody who is interested in us/me.
Not every transaction, when most probably some of the buyers are resellers. Besides the production of some the drugs is violently controlled. Switzerland provides government made heroin for free. That's harm reduction, and it's proven to be effective too.
You are mixing reality with what we have made it to be. I doubt you would for example complain in living in a reality where nature is respected, emission balance is neutral and energy is recycled. If you think that's impossible you are living in a cage. If your well-being is dependent on some people's efforts to better this reality while you are only eating the ready cake then you are an addicted parasite. It's rather unreasonable to be controlled by your needs in a world where you are not part of the supply. I understand if you feel like not being able to do anything but save yourself; it's quite a mess.
That's really not true. You'd not get much (there'd always be something more to attain) and you'd be enslaved to the providers of your well-being. Your notion is flawed and it's based on the illusionary concepts of the human reality. Acting as you said would not make you feel safer or well (in a 100% competitive world for getting what you can). You'd end up running a treadmill of your illusionary world where having or getting something more makes you happier. That's actually quite tragic.
If everybody acted that way then the services would completely cease to exist. The plus side is, that in the end we'd be living on what we can get, but it would not be much. That would be the real learning experience.
If the grand jackpot is a full scientific and non-scientific consensus for AGW then the odds are getting better, not worse. It's increasingly possible to win with AGW.
The perfect identification system - is there none? Can everything be faked and replicated? In the end what is the most defining characteristics of a person's identity? One can for example create a complete fake identity and mimic a body with the help of non intrusive / intrusive technology. Perhaps the uniqueness comes from the constant flux - the actual logic or pattern of the changes in the person's life and body. Proving an identity completely means that the technology would follow the person anywhere and monitor the changes. How far is it necessary to actually go? The kind of systems can be abandoned once there's enough trust to not need them at all and/or there's nothing to guard.
Warming is global, and it coincides with other cycles and enhances the tops. So the logical way to put it would be: the melting happens every 150 years or so, but it'll get more drastic and it will happen more often.
I went through about the same process and in the end decided to build everything myself. I wanted to have full control of the system and the system needed be expandable: a mini-ATX board, memory, drives (2*2TB for storage and 1 16GB SSD for the OS) and the enclosure. For the OS I chose Ubuntu, although some other distro may be more optimized for the purpose (I mostly connect to the box with SSH). If one goes the most minified route the ready system can be fit in a shoe box. The board I have is passively cooled and I think I could have the system passively powered too so it would be completely silent.
I researched the available options and always ended up with more questions than answers: can I modify the setup or do I void the warranty if I do something? How future proof the system is? Am I going to be dependent on just one company? I compared the specs of various systems and there always was something that didn't quite fit. It's the same thing with external harddrives. Instead of closed sets I prefer harddrive enclosures which allow easy changing and updating of the internal drive.
One day the Earth was so thirsty it asked Space for a drink. Space provided with a steady stream of nicely iced drinks. Eventually the Earth became so drunk that all kinds of creatures appeared.
If you have billions and billions of units almost everywhere the adaptation happens quite quickly. It's interesting to think that would the viruses eventually conquer the world or is there always a feedback mechanism that keeps them leashed. Traditionally viruses have kept the population sizes in control diminishing themselves in the process. The nature will however adapt to what we are doing, and the viruses may be the fastest changing organisms. This probably doesn't bode well for the rest.
Exactly. The cooling trend is there because we are heading towards the ice age. The problem is that the planet will be wrecked by the humanity by then. Earth should be nurtured like a garden, and the better our relationship with the nature the better we are prepared for the coming changes. The observable, innovative and reasonable mentality should prevail for us to survive. It's tragic how selfishness is eating it up, and in the end we'll just pay more because of it.
It's impossible to have sharp images of the universe, because in the end the camera itself is not precisely defined. It's interesting that technology can never be at par with the local physical conditions - we will always be a tiny fraction of a fraction behind. There can't exist an infinite frame rate device. In other words - if one shoots a video there always is change between the frames.
I wonder how many and what particles have been released by the high energy collisions happening in the universe since the big bang... Could there exist a significant field of some exotic particles just because of random head on collisions of cosmic rays in space?
Chatbots are easily fooled by surreal and untrue sentences, to which humans are able to react.
It: Where are you from? Me: United States of Russia It: You know, I don't see nothing extraordinary in the USA. Just a big country that imagines itself to be much more important than it really is.
Yes, the story is full of passion. It's odd for example that the buyer said she wanted to send one to Iran when iPads and other Apple products are available there.
I read that they are sitting on centrifuges of maple. The UN security council is pushing new resolutions as we speak.
Shouldn't all of the points of space have their own frames of references and not be synced anyway? The planck length units would overlap practically infinitely.
H.G. Wells wrote excellently about the subject: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Food_of_the_Gods_and_How_It_Came_to_Earth (although giant sizes babies and future adults are only actors in the coming new giant sized world in the book).

I'd rather avoid epic shits anyway. Epic blurs sound interesting though.

The measurements can overlap too and are not synced. We would then measure a more fine grained space than the Planck length and time.
