What the educational system at large now represents, is a dumbing down to the least common denominator so that nobody feels bad.
No child should be left behind, and certainly school can be challenging for some. But by instituting a tenet that "There are no losers" so let's give everyone an award - we're raising a generation that thinks mediocrity is ok. It's not ok, and the failure to nurture gifted children is ensuring our future demise.
What ever happened to respecting and cherishing differences?... like "This child is bright, this one... not so much"
You all say that as though it's a pejorative. And don't get me wrong I like being reduced to a social stereotype... but why not just weigh in with your assessment of the article instead of your insulting assessment of a group you seem to little about.
Not sure why this was submitted anonymously. It certainly is right on the money though. Of course the troubling part is, that even one school would choose to drop the lesson.
In years past there were lots of things they didn't need to dig for at all. And they didn't report on things like they were going to shake the very foundation of our homes and lives.
It's not like JFK was discreet. He operated in a different sphere - when the press wasn't there for ratings. It was there to report to the citizens what was news worthy. There were no teasers like How will coming changes likely kill you by next Tuesday? Tune in Monday at 11 for details!
The media today imho, has become nothing more than the mindless reality shows that fill the rest of the time on the airways.
It seems to me your observation has less to do with information, and more to do with believing your side is eternally right. When both sides drop that silly and divisive premise, THEN we can discuss unforgotten information used in the political arena.
That's one for why to stay Intel.
I think the larger question is, why on earth would Apple do this silly idea? Ask yourself if it would have made sense for Microsoft to buy Intel. The simple answer is, if it diverts attention from your core business - it's a bad idea.
I think so. The problem with Google for me is the crap results I get on my searches, that wind up near the top of the results. This comes from the focus of ad revenue, which is never discussed. Certainly I am not alone when I find that I've wasted time visiting a page that has NOTHING to do with what I'm looking for... but it's got a lot of ads for it!
I'm with AC above, how is this moded as insightful? If we follow the analogy, the MPAA should get out of the business because we are now free to copy the content they no long make?

You would think that a data company would have a more efficient billing process.
Who would think that?

This is great. And amazingly accurate.
They probably don't want this out, or the stock will slip to a realistic level.
So, to incapacitate the enemy when you approach, you say "Two guys walk into a bar..."
As far as I'm concerned, all peta flops should be thrown in jail.
