  1. Weird... on Options for 'Fixing' A Pirated Copy of Windows · · Score: 1

Never thought I would see so many slashdotters defending Microsoft. It's like the Twilight Zone...

  2. There are comparisons... on Passively Multiplayer Gaming · · Score: 2, Funny

Well, my boss does drabble on like a questgiver in an RPG and does tend to repeat himself alot. Only problem is my coworkers are plagued by incredibly poor AI and pathfinding ability. That and my resolution sucks unless I remember to wear my glasses.

I do wish I could put a box over my head and disappear like Solid Snake...

    Day of the Tentacle ftw!

  4. Re:Where's Microprose? on Five That Fell · · Score: 1

Microprose got bought by Infogrames(?) and then Sid Meier left and formed Firaxis if I remember right.

  5. Confessions on Possible Early Release for the Nintendo Wii · · Score: 5, Interesting

I have a confession. I am a Sony fanboy. I am also the target audience for the PS3... older, an "early adopter", professional and informed. I know that the PS3 is the most advanced of the three systems. I also understand that the Xbox360 CAN compete with it, though. Unfortunately, I also have a skill called "fiscal responsibility". That means I won't lay $60-70 bucks to play Oblivion on Xbox360 or PS3 when I can play it for $40 on PC. That also means that my new console for the year will probably be a Wii. After all, I was raised on Atari and Nintendo so I can consider it "getting back to my youth." Either that or the cheapest mid-life crisis ever at $250 or less.

  6. DNF on Duke Nukem Forever Due This Year? · · Score: 1

Odd that DNF is usually what shows up on college transcripts as Did Not Finish, ain't it?

  7. Re:The "missing" gamers are playing WoW? on U.S. Video Game Sales Down 10% in May · · Score: 1

Or is there a correlation between ever-increasing wait queues in WoW and declining game sales? More waiting, less gaming.

  8. DDO = Not great, but not bad on DDO Goes Solo · · Score: 1

I played it in the beta and thought it was pretty good, but not good enough for a monthly fee. With the option to solo, I may actually try it out again.

  9. It's the games, stupid! on Sony And The No-Confidence Vote · · Score: 1

Polygons mean nothing if the game sucks. Let's face it: all the fancy hardware in the world doesn't make a crappy game a great game. If Sony gets some developers exclusive to the PS3 that will publish the next Grand Theft Auto 3 or other mega hit then they will win. Of course, Microsoft was able to squander away having Jade Empire, Halo and some other decent exclusives...

  10. No on Too Soon For A Columbine Videogame? · · Score: 1

This "game" should not happen. End of story. I like the examples given by other readers here of other things people should NOT make games about. It's true that you could argue that a lot of games that recreate historic events could be considered offensive to some, but some things are just offensive to everyone. Some things are just simply wrong without blaming backlash on political correctness or some other made-up crutch of the politcos. I just don't want to see Jack Thompson, Hillary Clinton, Joe Lieberman or Tipper Gore waving this game in my face as an example of the way gaming is corrupting our youth.
